Chelsea stars head for exit - In fire sale by abramovich

Liverpool Football Club - The Rumour Mill

He did great in the football pitch. He had such a pace in his legs, that he was able to terrify oppositions. I have seen few players more powerful than him. Atletico Madrid put an offer on the table after a game against them. Both Kevin Richardson and Dalian Atkinson were tips of Aldridge, who also asked for Andy Townsend to reinforce the team in europe (though andy didn't come).

But reaching late to train, driving fast with sports car and a lack of will to learn a word of spanish finnished his career here. Great potential though.

McManaman, Owen, Beckham, are more recent examples.

In my opinion, a brittish footballer is very exportable and useful in leagues in which technique is demanded, they're not bad at that at all, they're not soft and they tend to be very professional.

I think that more exported players would benefit the English squad as a whole. The reasons not to happen that must be money as someone has mentioned.

I think Keegan,Brady, Souness, Platt, and Aldridge were probably the most successful of our exports, or going back years John Charles (but he was way before my time)

Always surprises me that more players don't try moving abroad (from England), yet John Barnes always wanted to play abroad and never got an offer.

UK salaries are way higher than what the rest of europe is paying unless its Real Madrid or Barça.

S@int, none of the Madrid english signs could be considered a failure neither:

Mcmanaman: Always on the verge of leaving Madrid because he wasn't a galactico, yet, he always ended up playing with his great attitude.

Beckham: Ended up being very needed, when capello thought he wasn't needed, he had to rectify

Owen: Better numbers than Raul. Scored a lot of goals considering the minutes he had, he just hadn't enough power in that corrupt dressroom to play more, but when he did, he excelled.
