Sorry for the misleading post you've quoted St Michael: It seems that what Aragones made was a test just in case our most exhausted players were not available, but now it seems he'll repeat the starting eleven of the previous games.

Just saw this article on Soccernet. My question is this: if yellow's unlucky in Spain and Aragones can't abide it, why in the fook did they decide to do their change strip in yellow? :laugh:

NEUSTIFT, June 24 (Reuters) - Spain are not worried about wearing yellow shirts versus Russia in the Euro 2008 semi-finals despite it being considered an unlucky colour in the country.

Spain are nominally the 'away' team in Thursday's match in Vienna and are obliged to wear their second strip which has been switched from traditional white to golden yellow.

The change for the match is necessary to avoid a colour clash because Russia, like Spain, wear red shirts.

'As far as I'm concerned it's fine, I'm used to playing in yellow,' said midfielder Marcos Senna whose club Villarreal play in an all-yellow strip.

Spain team mate Xavi said he was also unconcerned about the colour change.

'If I remember correctly we played in yellow when we beat France (in a friendly in February) so I hope it brings us luck again,' said the midfielder.

Spain coach Luis Aragones has an aversion to the colour.

He could not abide Atletico Madrid's yellow away strip when coach of the Primera Liga side and refused to accept yellow flowers when Spain arrived at Dortmund for the 2006 World Cup.

The traditional Spanish superstition surrounding the colour is thought to have arisen because French playwright Moliere was said to have worn yellow when he collapsed on stage performing Le Malade Imaginaire in 1673. He later died at his home.

Yes, yellow is somewhat unlucky in Spain (not for me, I'm not superstitious because it gives bad luck

), but people have hurried to specify that's not a yellow, but a golden colour (gualda, the same one of the flag), and problem solved.

There's a massive euphoria in Spain. People feel that once broken the doom of the quarter of finals, we'll walk our way to the title easily, or something.

To be honest, Italy was the team I feared most, but we'd better not get too carried away.

Good luck to your team, Sabre, either Spain or Russia has to win this tournament, if there is justice in football it should reward positive football - certainly not Germany's style. My guess is you will need a lot of quality football to get a second win against Russia, and then you will need luck in the final, Germany is so tough to knock out...maybe if the Turks did it (in 90th minute

) Spain would have an easier task.

There is justice in football after all, you knocked those blo0dy Italians out and sent them where their place was - HOME! To be frank, I stopped watching when the extra-time was over, somehow I was sure Italy would win the damn lottery. I was really happy the next day when I saw the news headlines, though

hopefully the Turks take it to extra time and get 3 or 4 people sent off, but hold on to win it on penalties

And then there is a brawl afterwards and all the players currently on suspension are involved and banned for the final. Plus a couple injuries thrown in. I think Turkey would only be able to field a team of 4 or 5 in that happened

Hmmm, very odd.

Anyway, Russia were cool when they wore Adidas with CCCP on the front.

Putin should bring back all those old Commie symbols.

The new name of the country should be "Untrustworthy Sinister State of Russia" (USSR)

The Hammer and Sickle should be brought back (the hammer for crushing journalists and the sickle for cutting down crops and bulldozing farms to make way for giant car-producing factories owned by Abramovich).

"CCCP" can stand for "Come Celebrate Comrade Putin!"
