This game could go some way in defining the eventual winner of the league.

Real Madrid are failing, but Barcelona are inconsistent. Watch out, Villareal is winning a lot and coming from behind and might bring us an unexpected end of the liga:

1 R. Madrid* 62
2 Villarreal 59
3 Barcelona 58
4 Atlético 50
5 Racing* 47
6 Sevilla* 45
7 Espanyol* 45
8 Athletic* 39
9 Getafe* 39
10 Almería* 39
11 Valencia* 39
12 Betis 38
13 Mallorca* 37
14 Osasuna* 34
15 Deportivo* 34
16 Zaragoza* 33
17 Valladolid* 32
18 Recreativo* 32
19 Murcia* 26
20 Levante* 19

* = One game less, Villareal played and won yesterday

Although I think it'd be very difficult for Barca or Villarreal to win it, Villareal are on a great run and if they can sustain this form until El Classico, they may be in with a chance of winning the title, but only a slim one. I can possibly see Madrid dropping points at Racing, but I think they'll take maximum points elsewhere in their games leading up to the Barca game at home where anything can happen. After that they have Zaragoza away, which isn't easy, but it could turn out to be academic depending on the outcome of El Classico.

In successive fixtures, Villarreal have Sevilla away, which is very tough, and then Almeria away who have a very solid defence.

These two games will determine whether or not Villareal can win the title or not IMO.

Overall I must say I can't see Villareal winning the title because they don't have a great defence, and I think they'll come unstuck in either or both of those two fixtures.

I think Barcelona have the easiest run-in but I think 7 points is too many to make up, and the attitude and body language emanating from their team and manager doesn't effuse belief.

I think it's almost sealed - Madrid will win the league.

Osasuna beat Real. Valencia move ever closer to the DROP! Would be hilarious if they were in the UEFA Cup and the Segunda at the same time.

This year's Spanish proposal for Eurovision is weird even for Manhattan standards.

Probably zero eurovision points

Manhattan wants Ireland's giant turkey to win.

It was a bit of a poor title race in all honesty, Real Madrid weren't that outstanding, it was just that Barca performed well below the threshold their quality should've reached.

They lacked a bit of power and directness which Ronaldinho use to give them when he was on form, but even still, their inability to put in a firmer challenge can't be put down to a lack of quality personnel, or a lack of availability. In my view it's been down to poor organisation, a lack of focus by neglecting defensive duties at key times and an attitude problem. They've been a bit like us, having not quite as good an attacking record that you'd expect from a title-winning side, but having a good enough defensive record. They've also drawn too many games - notably away from home, which have made the difference.

Quite frankly I find Real Madrid and Barca to be dull.

It'd be nice if Sevilla, Villarreal, Ath. Madrid and others won the title in the years to come.
