I didn't enjoy that game last night even though we controlled it IMO.  The ref was getting on my nerves from the very first time he blew for a foul against Carra on Dogbreath (what is it with that soft cunt falling over at the slightest breath of air?)

Negatives... probably none really. I thought we played well and were unfortunate to concede in such a way but we've had our fair share of luck along the way so I ain't gonna complain.  I don't see anything in Chel$ki to be scared of and we'll do 'em at the Bridge.  Good luck to Chel$ki for the match against the scum I hope they fucking hammer them.

And gain confidence fo the tie against us?

Good thing about them facing Man U, is they will need to play a full strength squad. While we can rest the majority of our players. Let's make it count!!

Just one LFC goal at Stamford Bridge.

We would have needed one anyway, since I didn't think 1-0 was enough to sit on.

I do not see anything to be scared of when it comes to Chel$ki - I fervently hope they and Barça absolutely annhilate the scum and Terry the twat breaks crybaby's legs and Terry the frog fucks mr potato head up the arse.

I digress...

We're in a superb position, Chel$ki are gonna shite themselves trying to protect the away goal that they've got... it's gonna be a brilliant game - I can't wait.

mick, i take your point about it being a mans game and a lot of the contest is the verbal and physical battle between the players on the pitch. that is one thing and its ok by me, but another thing entirely is to run into a player so as to deliberately knee him in the ribs when he is on the ground.

Apparently John Arne Riise has just been arrested on the M62. Apparently he was heading in the wrong direction

it does appear to me that our star striker has still to find a resounding answer when teams really face him up.

Mick,

Two games instantly spring to mind, Chelsea at home in the League, and Reading away in the League Cup. During both these games he took all the treatment and came back stronger, got into THEIR faces and scored aswell. He wasn't missing last night, he found good positions and had a couple of great chances just didn't execute them as well as he does. My concern has been that this system may not suit Torres against better defenders, and better sides which usually results in the midfield not being able to support as much and it requires far too much work from him, which will ultimately result in a loss of sharpness.

I have nothing against players going in hard, as long as getting the ball is the priority, or a bit of sledging, but what Terry was doing was out of order, its plain cheating, and a better referee would have probably sent him off, or at least carded him earlier, especially considering fouls were given for just leaning on players last night.

bigmick wrote:In fairness I absolutely know I'm going to get slaughtered here, but while I can't abide Drogba's playacting and nonsense I didn't find Terry's treatment of Torres either surprising nor particularly annoying. It's the semi-finals of the Champions League we're talking about here, it's still a mans game despite the authorities attempts to sanitise it all the time and Terry's tactics were IMHO a legitimate ploy to unsettle a top-class striker. Infact THE one part of the whole thing which I do find a little frustrating is that like when Man Utd got into Torres on both occasions we've played them this season, it does appear to me that our star striker has still to find a resounding answer when teams really face him up.

I've said a couple of times, it's exactly how I'd set up to defend against him myself. You'd look to hound him when he's in non-dangerous areas, berate him if he goes to ground cheaply, kick him, hurt him, hold him, frustrate him and ask the question of him physically and mentally. Ask him to look into his soul and see if the desirte burns bright enough. Distract him verbally, fire him up with insults, encourage him to chase lost causes out on the wings. You'd hope that if you got into him enough, when a chance does present itself so keen would he be to bury the taunts down your throat that perhaps he'd misfire. A momentary loss of control, a fraction of hesitation or a "safe" finish, too close to the goalkeeper or not hit with enough power.

There is one certainty the way I see it. Torres can expect plenty more of the same in the second leg. What's more, unless and until he can find a more convincing answer in these huge clashes, he will find that next season other teams adopt the same tactics. Ferdinand and Vidic have unsettled him, Terry and Carvallho have got under his skin also. Sometimes the secret is a colder mental approach, to actually care less and not more. Had Torres taken one of the three or four chances he was given last night, the tie would probably be over. We must hope that if a similar opportunity presents itself in the second leg that he rediscovers his dead-eyed finishing prowess. I think he will, but you can absolutely bet that Terry will be trying to put him off while he's doing it. It's what good defenders do.

I agree with most of that - and if I can see it Im sure all the other defenders in the Prem will see it too - I'd say he definitely doesn't enjoy playing against Terry. Unsettling Torres is probably the best way to play him.

I do however feel John Terry overstepped the mark with the knee into Torres ribs - if the authorities had any balls they cite him for that. Also, Torres is no baby. He can take the knocks, keep his cool and give it back to them with a goal.

Its do or die game....thars what we are best at, all the press are saying that they got lucky and we kicked them off the park and we just got unlucky at the end.......ok for the first 45min we were :censored:  but after that we owned the game.

We will go and win at their home as we are Liverpool, We have the History on our side and some say even the Football gods are on our side.

Tonight we get to see what the team looks like that we will meet in the Final.

Their defence is not their strong point. One good ball from Gerrard, Torres through, he won't make the same mistake he made to the Kop End last night

I can't stand that thug Terry, he should have had a red card by the end of the match yesterday.   Hopefully Torres can have more freedom in the next match since Terry's one yellow away from suspension.

After all the stick I got in work today and listening to the "experts" on the Radio cane Riise I cant wait for next Wednesdays match. Chelsea will not try to protect their slender advantage because they are simply not good enough to do so, they will have to try and score a goal and we will catch them on the break, we will get an early goal and they will push out even more allowing us to score again.

I dont buy in to all this great record at home cr@p that they keep banging on about, some idiot actually said if they think Anfield has a great atmosphere, wait till they hear the noise at the Bridge" one of the funniest things I have heard all day, the only noise that comes from there is the boos for Average Grant, the guy has no idea about football and tactics at all. Drogba was so bad last night it was laughable, does he sub him ? No because he is a bottler, the player most likely to score against us was and always has been Joe Cole, what does he do, takes him off he is an idiot who knows he got lucky on the night and had Cech not been playing the second leg would have been a run out for our reserves side.

We got to their place needing to score and I have every confidence we will do that, we have beaten better teams with just as impressive home records as theirs, Villa put 4 past them as did Spurs I am not saying we will score 4 but WE WILL score enough to see us into the final, and when they stop booing and our fans take a quick break from lifting the roof off their shed of a ground you will hear a mouse fart.

Atmosphere to fear at Chelsea ? Image

I've been pondering that all day. I've come to the conclusion that 1-0 probably wasn't good enough anyway, and I'd prefered if we went into that game with the attitude of needing a goal. Still, I can't help but think that if we did score down there protecting a goal lead, then they'd have needed a miracle akin to Istanbul to progress, and you know that we are the only team that does that kind of sh*t. :(

My only concern is what the stats are saying. We haven't scored down there...yet. I can't fathom it. It has to change. Can it change?
