Not for me Nanny, he's got talent fair enough, that's obvious, but he likes to be the big star which he was at Barcelona, seems funny how he's "sulking" now Messi and Henry are finding their feet at the Nou Camp. Ronaldinho isn't the immortal superstar he was anymore and it seems like Messi is where people turn to when things aren't going right. My fear would be if he joined us, could he cope with Gerrard and Torres being bigger superstars and fans favourite more than him. I don't think he could.

Valencia are in a bit of a mire at the minute, and £20m goes a long way in Spain.

Too similar to Torres in that he likes to play off the shoulder of the defender... don't you think? Granted, I don't see too much of the lad, but that was his style of play the last few times I've seen him.

Maybe someone who's a little more creative and is capable of more in terms of assists would be a better choice.
Or even perhaps a huge monster of a striker to play off. Torres would have more time off the ball and perhaps a little less close/physical attention.

I'm sorry, I can't agree that he's not creative enough. He got a fair number of assists last season (15 or so). Not nearly as many this season, but Valencia are having a very bad season anyway. In a quality team with Torres, there would be a greater emphasis on him to create and less of a burden to be the top scorer (which is somthing he's carried wherever he's been so far), and I've no doubt he has the ability to flourish in this role.

He's the type of player we need, extremely skillfull, very fast and agile. He can get a shot off in no time, which is what you need in tight spaces especially if you're up against teams who park the bus.

I agree that his movement is quite similar to Torres', but he can play in a deeper and less rigid supply-orientated role, as can Torres because they're both that good.

He fits the bill for me.

To be fair, if he came here and started performing like he can, I think he would be idolised by the fans as much as Torres or Gerrard, if not more.

I think its unrealistic to think of him as an option though.

that's a big IF though mate. We've seen first hand how players can do it spain but not england.

I agree it's unrealistic to think of him as an option, but if he did become available I'm saying why he might not be the player we all think he is.

John i think the lad would be great here put it this way he wouldnt get be allowed to get away with the :censored:

that hes been doin there hed soon be put in his place. An i dont think hes sulkin at all at not being a superstar. When have you ever seen the lad play without a smile on his face. OK forget abar the teeth jokes :laugh:

He plays the game the way it should be played he could make himself a fans favorite

Fresh start new country different challenge i think hed revel in it . Can you imagine him in the role just behind Torres if he got his form back ,Id take that gamble

Yes English players fail as well, who said they didn't? I bang on about lads from these shores because they're players I see week in week out, I don't bother with european football because it doesn't concern me or Liverpool's position in the league now does it? I couldn't give a toss about how well David Villa is doing at Valencia or how badly mickey mouse is doing for LA Galaxy, it doesn't concern me. So I suggest english based players (including lads from abroad who play over here) because I have a much better knowledge of what kind of player they are.

You also constantly imply that signing a player from abroad is a greater risk (presumably because you 'don't like foreigners'), otherwise, you'd see no need for comments like this: "We've seen first hand how players can do it spain but not england."

No doubt you'll come out with some shit about how 'that's all I was saying' when you know very well that wasn't the implied meaning of the comment, which is and was - signing foreigners are a greater risk than British players.

I don't think he's "sulking"... what I think is that he's lost the passion... the guy has won all the major titles in world football... individual and team... what is there to win for him? nothing... absolutely nothing...

has to be benzema.

20 years old, big, strong, quick, eye for goal, hold the ball up, good touch scored against the mancs and would stop the mancs buying him.

he would be expensive but with the sale of crouch, kuyt, voronin we could afford him.

as for cover upfront after these sales - give the youth players a place on the bench - they have to be given a chance sometime.

would he have the passion to succeed over here then? he's already got more money than sense, he's set up for life, wouldn't he just prefer to return to a sunny beach of brazil rather than the muddy beaches of New Brighton or Southport?

I'd still have doubts about him, should he be signed. I'd be excited because I'm aware of what he can do with a ball, but still have doubts.

Exited John youd be running up and down them hills in Formby., on the walzers in New Brighton and just to put the final touch in exitement yeh might even have a little shuffle in the Grafton cause i know i would :laugh:
