Liverpool plan £10million Aimar swoop
20:28 January, 27, 2008
Liverpool Football Club are lining up a £10million swoop for Pablo Aimar.

The Reds are in desperate need of a kick-start to their season if they have any chance of catching Premier League leaders Manchester United and Arsenal, who are currently a whopping fourteen points ahead of the Anfield men.

And Rafael Benitez is reportedly planning a move for Real Zaragoza star Aimar, who he knows well from his time in charge of Valencia where the 28-year-old was a key member of his side.

It is believed that the Spaniard is hoping to land the attacking midfielder - who has 47 international caps for Argentina - before the transfer deadline on Thursday, yet if this fails, he will renew his interest in the summer.

That link takes you to the FA cup draw story, nothing about Aimar.

John Arne Riise's agent has rejected talk linking the player with a move away from Liverpool.

Premier League rivals Newcastle and Aston Villa have been linked with the Norwegian international in recent weeks.
Riise's future at Anfield has been the subject of intense speculation as he has failed to hold down a regular place in Rafa Benitez's starting XI this season.
However, Riise's representative Jan Kvalheim says although clubs may be interested in the full-back, the player is going nowhere.

"There are probably a lot of teams thinking about making a bid but nothing will happen," Kvalheim told Nettavisen.
"He has got one-and-a-half years left on his contract.
"It hasn't been an issue or important that he is sold in the transfer window - it is only journalists in England and Norway that are speculating."

I know Riise hasn't been flavour of the month for some time now, but I really think it would be a mistake to sell him. He is versatile, hardworking, rarely injured and always gives 100%. Maybe his passing, right foot and shooting accuracy could all be better, but he has also been an integral part of one of the strongest defences in the league for a good number of years now.

I think his loyalty should be rewarded and he should be offered a new contract ASAP.

Any chance of getting rid of some players today?
There is no-one anywhere in the world at any stage who is any bigger or any better than this football club.

Really disappointed with this transfer window..  thought we may get rid of more of the dross and bought the winger we have now been waiting for, for about 5 years!
Our job is simple, to support the club, not just parts of the club that are easy to support, but every one who plays a part, that includes ALL players.  We are stronger when we are all walking in the same direction. Walk On
