The People says Crouch and Michael Johnson are heading for a shock £12million swap in a delayed deal that was scheduled for the January window.

England striker Crouch has been cleared for a new link-up with his former national team boss Sven Goran Eriksson at Manchester City.

But Rafa Benitez's dogged determination to land Johnson for Liverpool is driving the deal.

The transfer should have gone through already but was held up by Johnson's injury lay-off after an aborted return from a double hernia operation.

It was a done deal until 19-year-old Johnson broke down after being rushed back from surgery. The midfield prodigy will be out for around another four weeks, putting the switch back to the end of the season. Johnson's heart is set on a move to Anfield, a dream he was in line to realise last summer until Eriksson's arrival as City boss halted Benitez's first attempt to buy him.

Not another fecking central midfielder!!
Has Rafa got some kind of sexual fetish for CM's? :suspect: For fecks sake Rafa, we NEED strengthening in other areas! Try getting in another decent striker to take the strain off of Torres, if you have to buy any midfielders try getting some decent wingers in but give the CM's a rest hey, we've got 'em comin out of our ears.
Think I read somewhere on hear the other week we've got 60 odd people on our playing staff ( ??? ) I bet 30 of them are CM's!!

That figure was a little misleading to say the least.

It includes all the players down at the academy.

This kid Johnson is a cracking player and in the current market worth the £12m being quoted. If he were to join then I would assume that would see the end of Xabi. From what i believe Johnson can play in CM or RM, can score goals and is sound defensively. I hope we sign him.

Liverpool join race for Werder Bremen playmaker Diego
tribalfootball.com - February 05, 2008

Liverpool have joined the race for Werder Bremen midfielder Diego.
The Brazil international has emerged as one of the hottest transfer properties on the continent, with Juventus and Real Madrid regarded as frontrunners.

However, Corriere dello Sport says Juve chiefs are now concerned about their chances of winning Diego's signature after Liverpool made contact in the last week.

No criticism of where the rumour comes from, no doubting the veracity of it, its the best rumour we have had for a while and I believe it implicitly.

Do you think we could start a rumour, get it spread around the internet to the point the papers pick it up? Then speculation would start, the player would fancy the move and Rafa would make a move. Who to pick though...Diego...Quaresma...Van der Vaart? :p

A swop rumour between Alonso and Aguero might be a good one to start with. Then a Kuyt swop with Diego (this might be a hard one to start :D  )

In keeping with their policy of bolstering their future, Liverpool are reportedly set to take a closer look at Finnish starlet Simon Skrabb.

According to skysports.com, the Reds have invited the 13-year-old for a trial at Anfield after recommendation from the Merseyside club's Finnish scout Tor Sparv.

The teenage attacking midfielder, who had earlier had a trial in August, is amongst one of the best prospects in Finland.

Skrabb's club, Jaro have reportedly permitted him to travel to Liverpool as the Reds could possibly sign him.

We really seem to be going after the Fins, signing Larui Dalle Valle earlier in the year who is "supposedly" one of the highest rated players in Europe for his age but who knows if thats true and if we will successfully train and develop him into a player who can breakthrough is an entirely different question that we haven't been able to answer with success recently

After failing to seal a deal with £13million-rated Peter Crouch, Newcastle United gaffer Kevin Keegan, has set his sights on Dutch misfit Dirk Kuyt and will try to lure the (recently dropped) International star to St. James’ Park during the summer break.

Keegan will tempt the Reds’ money-men with an offer believed to be in the region of £5million, which could be seen as a decent return on a player who has failed to nail down a regular starting slot at Anfield since his £10million switch from Feyenoord during the summer of 2006.

With Rafa Benitez expected to swing the axe in a mass overhaul of his squad this summer, Dirk could feel his days at Anfield are numbered and the attraction of remaining in the Premier League could be enough to tempt the 27-year-old to the North-East.

I got this rumour off Kop-tv can anyone tell me if its anything to do with KR@P TALK ?

its gotta be just wishful think saint.

kuyt isnt a keegan type player at all. he likes his forwards to have guile and flair, and i dont think a workhorse like kuyt would be anywhere near his thoughts
