He is surely on his way now as they are supposedly looking to sign fred, unless thats because Berbatov is going.

Seems like Defoe could be on his way to Villa according to speculations this morning. I'd actually like for us to take a punt at Fred instead. He seems quite good and skillful from what I've seen from him (thoug admittedly that isn't too much - but still more than just youtube clips mind :D ). At the 9 million being mentioned for him, he could be quite an interesting player to look at. Does seem as though Spurs are going to get him though, but maybe a cheeky last minute bid could outmuscle them?

Bayern Munich are willing to let Lukas Podolski leave the club on loan, in a change of heart that could prompt Manchester City to make a bid.

The Germany international has fallen down the Bavarian club's striking pecking order this season, having to play second fiddle to the likes of Miroslav Klose and Luca Toni.

Podolski is thought to be worried about his prospects of being called-up to Germany's European Championship squad given his lack of playing time this term.

Bayern had initially been reticent to sanction Podolski's exit, but general manager Uli Hoeness now concedes a temporary parting of ways could benefit both parties.

He added: "I want to help him to make it to the European Championships.

"And if we loan him out and everything goes well, we have done everything right.

Exit possible

"Then we have got him games and he comes back on July 1."

Bayern boss in-waiting Jurgen Klinsmann is known to be an admirer of a player he worked with during his days as coach of the national side and he would be loath to allow a permanent departure.

However, it does now look as though Podolski could be spending between now until the campaign's close away from the Allianz Arena.

Podolski is not good enough to play for liverpool im afraid.

I don't rate him at all as a striker, will end up like kuyt or voronin with us.

'Arry is trying to stir things up again:

Redknapp: Peter Crouch can join Portsmouth

By Vicki Hodges and agencies

Harry Redknapp has said he would jump at the chance to bring Liverpool striker Peter Crouch back to Portsmouth.

Crouch has struggled to establish himself in Liverpool's first-team this season and has been limited to a bit-part role from the bench for much of the campaign.

The England international came off the bench last night to score the 88th-minute equaliser which saw Liverpool take a point from their Premier League contest with Aston Villa at Anfield.

Rafa Benitez's decision to use Crouch as an impact player has led to speculation linking the player with a January move to Aston Villa, Manchester City and former club Portsmouth where Redknapp has said he would snap him up.

Redknapp worked with Crouch during his first tenure at Portsmouth six years ago and later managed him at Southampton before Liverpool lured the 6ft 7ins striker to Anfield in a £7 million move in 2005.

"I like 'Crouchie' and I would take him any day of the week," Redknapp, who turned down the Newcastle job to stay at Fratton Park said.

"But I just don't know whether Liverpool would be willing to sell him.

"He did a great job for me when he was at Portsmouth before and he is also a very nice lad."

Despite Crouch's limited first-team opportunties, the 26-year-old has indicated his willingness to fight for his place at Anfield.

With the current unrest behind the scenes throwing Benitez's future in doubt, Crouch may be prepared to bide his time to see whether the prospect of a new manager in charge could revive his Liverpool career.

got this from another forum who took it from kop tv
-----------------------
Under-pressure Rafa Benitez is reportedly becoming increasingly frustrated with the lack of goals from £10million Dutch (miss)hit-man, Dirk Kuyt, and is lining-up a swap-deal involving West Ham United striker Dean Ashton (pictured).

A potential stumbling block for a deal to go ahead is the Hammers’ valuation of Ashton, thought to be in the region of £17million, but Rafa has several players at his disposal that he is willing to off-load in a multiple swap-deal.

Norwegian John Arne Riise, who has struggled for form this season, is also a target for Newcastle’s Kevin Keegan, but more importantly, Hammers boss, Alan Curbishley is understood to be a keen admirer of the ginger-winger and could pave the way to broker a deal during the January transfer-window.

Momo Sissoko is also waiting in the Anfield departure lounge but the Mali International wants to ply his trade (which is apparently playing football) in Italy.

I guess stu is having an influence on rafa  :D

Mohammed Sissoko is on the verge of completing his move to Juventus.

Momo to join Juve imminently

"Now I have good contact with Juventus, so we'll see what happens in the next two days," he said. "Maybe I'm going to sign on Friday my contract with Juve.LINK

Hobbs on loan to Scunthorpe is apparently all but a done deal.

Must admit I'm disappointed in that. I agree that the lad needs first team experience, but from what I've seen he's more than capable of doing a job at a lower end Prem team. Paul Jewell in particularly could really use him at Derby.

From The TimesJanuary 25, 2008

Window watch: Rafael Benitez’s daring plan to sign Theo Walcott on loan is turned down by Arsenal
Arsenal have rejected an audacious attempt by Liverpool to take Theo Walcott on loan for the rest of the season. The 18-year-old has attracted interest from several Barclays Premier League clubs, with Sven-Göran Eriksson still hopeful of luring him to Manchester City, but the fact that Rafael BenÍtez was willing to place his faith in a player of such limited experience as he attempts to rescue Liverpool’s faltering season will come as a surprise.

BenÍtez has admired Walcott for some time and was one of many managers scrambling for his signature when he left Southampton two years ago, only to balk at his £12 million fee. The Spaniard had hoped to use him on the right wing for the remainder of the season, but Arsène Wenger, the Arsenal manager, is adamant that he will not be allowed out on loan.
