How many top four sides have come to Upton park in the last three seasons and won? Full strength or not?

Answer on a postcard mate.

Fratton Park  :D

Me to, he fecked up again.

Resting players 4 games in unbeleievable.

No offence mate, but what do you do as a job ?

Seriously, Rafa Benitez is an excellent manager and knows this league, his players and fitness and coaching better than only one or two people in the league, so I think he knows what he is doing and whats best for the team.

well 21 points off the top last season pretty much p*sses on that thought mate.

rafa is a good manager but to say he knows this league better than most is wrong, he is still learning this league and still making mistakes in it

At least you lot will have your feet on the ground after this.

We're going to win the league after four games is ridiculous.

I'm disappointed with the team selection too... but some players need to stand up and be accounted for as well... especially crouch... who complained about not starting and today played like :censored:... you can see that he's just not up for the quick passing game that we play now

We made 4 odd changes for the Derby game and won 6-0. We'll never win the league unless we go into every game looking to win, and start playing something that resembles football, nothing to do with rotation. The lads who came in today are all full internationals.

I'm not against rotation, per se, but I am against wholesale rotation that involves the benching of our most technically gifted players. We were toothless and that, for me, was a team selection issue.

Yeah thats why he threw 2 points away today. He's not god mate, he makes mistakes and he made a big one with his team selection today.

Resting players who are not 100% fit and carrying injuries against sub standard opposition ahead of a Champions League game in three days is not THAt unbelievable really.

Yes it is. I cannot see the logic in compromising our chances of Premiership success for the Champions League this season. I thought Rafa had realised that.

Pompey play at Fratton park...but for what it's worth I agree with you. Yes I am disappointed to lose two points but start hammering Rafa for resting two injured players is a bit much. And yeah, we are still top and still looking good for it and still unbeaten so it's not all bad.

Fratton Park  :D

:censored: stadium, can't even remember it's name  :D

Torres should have started.

Babel played in both games in midweek, and so did Gerrard. I could understand the reasoning there.

Alonso only played twenty some minutes and Sissoko didn't as far as I know. So they were the two fresher players.

Torres though should had started. He played only one full game.

Typical over-reaction from certain quarters...

Yes we were poor. That happens to teams you know - it's not a new thing exclusive to Rafa Benitez.

"So and so should have started..." - are these ramblings coming from the same people who were banging on about our rotation now being "class for class"?

Hmmm.... We got a point today, at a venue where the reigning champs got a point. At a venue where we lost last season.

Now - grow up and stop spitting out the dummy, dummies.

I’m not sure what Andy has said wrong there, he was speaking sense, Liverpool have enough quality to go to tough places such as Fratton Park and collect maximum points. The teams which are able to go to such places and collect maximum points are the teams who end up top of the pile come May.

This aside, a point is not a terrible result by any means; but the result is not a pleasing result by any means either. There is a case which could be argued that with the chances Pompey were presented with and ultimately wasted, the lads are fortunate to come away with a point.

I’d like to raise an issue with rotation, when Babel, Torres and Gerrard came on, all three of them looked healthy and sharp, and there was no sign of fatigue in their performances. Now I don’t know what happens behind the scenes, therefore I cannot comment on players’ fitness levels etc, but I felt that Rafa’s mind was not entirely focused on this game, but on Tuesday nights CL games against Porto. I could of course be wrong, but I wasn’t impressed with this afternoon’s starting eleven.

I felt the defence today was lapsed concentration at times and with better finishing from the like of Utaka, the lads could have come away from Pompey with 0 points. It wasn’t a terrible performance, but it wasn’t an effective performance and had Torres, Babel and Gerrard started, the result could have been completely different

Well.....do u smell what the rock is cooking ?  The great one called it correct again. I already had low expectation for this match....so can't be ar$ed with this match.... :p

Anyway..... lets just look at porto. Thats the more important game. Speaking of which...i will create the thread.

Have to add...everytime mascherano doesn't play...our midfield is over-run. Hope rafa sticks with mascherano and gerrard midfield combo. That is the combo which will bring us glory. Portsmouth were over-running our midfield.

Ah well...at least eversh1t lost.

BTW, its 1-1 between spurs and arsenal...

Really?

Utd couldn't do it last year, they got beaten 2-1.
Utd couldn't do it this year either.

Arsenal haven't won there in 2 or 3 years as far as I can remember.
