I have been stuck at work so am relying on text commentary and you guys but 0-0 isn't a disasterous result. Away at Fratton Park is tough no matter who you are and they had a penalty too so all in all I'll take it.
I know there is going to be a lot of criticism fired at Rafa over his team selection but I think he was on a lose-lose situation. His two best players both carrying injuries, playing a team mid table team on a bad run of form and with Europe coming up on tuesday....the fact is you cannot play your best 11 EVERY game, you just can't. So he decided to let his best two players rest their knocks knowing he could bring em on if needed.....he did need to and it didn't quite pay off.
Some on here will say that the league is the priority now especially with such a good start to consolidate and that the likes of Crouch and Benayoun should be reserved for Europe but the fact is the champions league is a massive money spinner and qualifying for the latter stages is extremely important for the club.
I might get panned for this and maybe I am wrong but I think Rafa's job is tough enough without us panning him for it....he does what he feels is best and sometimes it just doesn't quite come off. To be fair we hit the woodwork and could have nicked it 1-0...who would have complained then?
