its called blind faith mate, people actually believe we are doing ok, i have said many times i used to be like that, i would argue with my dad about it, i thought we could do no wrong.

and then i grew up, seriously i dont say that to have a dig at people, but if you look there are two camps, the older posters will say it like it is, the younger posters will hear no bad about the club (although some younger posters tend to be more honest about it)

just to make it clear, LFC is not xabi alonso, it never will be, and we have to get rid of him for the good of the club then so be it, i cant be bothered again explaing how it would be for the good of the club as the blinkered would just ignore it anyway.

its quite annoying how some people cant see any bad, its good to look positives guys, i am looking for the positives in getting rid of alonso, then we can stop living on a few great passes and a couple of goals from his own half.

if alonso want to be thought of as a great player, let him start acting like one, consistently, if he wants to mope around when he is dropped (and he was dropped for mash, no matter how anyone wants to dress it up) then he can f*ck of now and we will take the money.

OK. Now then - let's look at this from a different perspective, shall we?

Gerrard - 1 W*nk season, much worse that Alonso - so surely he must go? OK - so that's Xabi and Gerrard out the door because you demand perfection.

Carragher - had a dodgy start, and it was, infact, partly HIS mistake which led to the free kick in Athens. (Or did he lie in his post match interview? - See what I mean about short-sighted?)

He must go, too.

And Reina, seeing as he had an imperfect start.

Finnan - was shaky for a couple of months.

Agger - has cost us a few goals - obviously not good enough.

Sissoko - can't pass, fouls on site. Must be sold.

Mascherano - booked in Athens, and allowed Kaka to escape him for the "foul" commited by Alonso, which, according to you, was all Xabi's fault. (Short-sightedness to the fore once again.) Better release him from his loan spell, then...

Pennant spent 1/2 the season pretending to be a lamp-post. Get him gone.

Riise has been a pile of horses b*llocks this year - sell, sell, sell.

Aurelio can't cut it.

Garcia is too inconsistant.

Kuyt should go as he hasn't scored enough goals.

Crouch isn't good enough with his head, so must make way.

Bellamy isn't good enough.

Kewell is sh*te and needs to go.

So...

Based on your (and Bamaga's, evidently) premise, all these players need shipping out, starting with Gerrard, seeing as he's been this season's biggest disappointment.

Keegan, as you so triumphantly state, DID leave, and we as a team DID improve - you are quite correct.

What you obviously fail to realise is that we signed Kenny Dalglish, who was, unless I am very much mistaken, ALSO a striker, just like his predecessor. Not, as would be the case in the present quandry, a striker for a holding midfielder.

But still - you keep deluding yourself that this would strengthen our team.

I just can't understand how some people think that, when it's obvious gerrard is the best player of the squad. His position is CM (not holding mid), but his "problem" is that he's so complete he can do a job in the right and as AM. He's bloody good!

Like I said the vast majority of Liverpool supporters are quick to blame the managers of England when Gerrards played out of position.

The usual grunts that go along with it are, " F.ucking Lampard, he's s.hit. Why has Englands best midfielder Gerrard being moved around to accomodate fat Frank?'

Now I'm not compairing Alonso and Lampard, but the principle of the matter, is the same.

Question : Why should Gerrard be moved around in every other position for Liverpool when his best position is clearly central midfield ?

Answer: Same as the England managers, because he can play any where.

Qusetion: Why dont we play him in his best position for England and Liverpool central midfield ?

Answer: Because Gerrard cant play with either Lampard or Alonso in their respective partnerships, for reasons that have been explained before.

Question: If Gerrard is England and Liverpools best midfield/player even. Shouldnt Lampard and Alonso move ?

Answer: No because neither can play anywhere else their not as "versitle" as Gerrard so he has to move.

Question: But doesnt that defeat the purpose of the object, in getting the best out of your best player. Shouldnt the team albeit Liverpool or England be built around your best players.

Answer: Yes it does it does defeat the purpose of the object, but what others will tell you is, its go to be better for the team as a whole, not just the player himself.

FFS calm down Lando. Everyone is entitled to an opinion, and thats all it is. Theres only one opinion going to make any difference to Liverpool and thats Rafa's.

Alonso hasn't had a good season in my opinion, that doesn't mean ship him out he's cr@p, it just means that he's had a poor season by his standards. If Rafa thinks we need a world class striker and the only way we can get one is to p/x Alonso, I think he will do the swop, not because he thinks we won't miss Xabi in midfield, but because he thinks thats whats best for Liverpool. Hopefully it won't come to that and he will get the money to make desperately needed improvements without having to weaken our midfield.

I think that a lot depends on who he manages to sell from the obvious list and for how much.If Cisse, Bellamy etc don't go, I don't think Rafa will have enough money to make the buys we desperately need (I hope I am wrong) If that happens then I think he will look at Alonso or Sissoko to make up the shortfall.

Thats still a lot of if's before anyone sells Alonso
