Michael owen - We need him and he needs us

Couldn't disagree more - I reckon Owen is suffering the "Darren Anderton" syndrome.....always injured....why pay big bucks for someone to sit on the bench ? Nope, no room for sentiment. The Premiership is what it's all about and we can't afford to carry anybody....

20 goals, how about getting 20 games out of Owen. Seems a difficulty at the moment

Who can we get that would get us 20 goals a season who is going to be a sure fire success? There are no guarantees in football. Look at Shevchenco, Morientes etc. At least with Owen we know what he can and can't do, if he is fit he's as good as most that would cost us £20million+ ,who would need to adapt, and get used to having to make the most of the few real chances we create. Owen has lived off scraps of chances for years, and still got his goals.

IF, and that's a big IF we DO sign Owen, I would be disappointed if he was the one big name.

The ONLY way he'll work is if he's not relied upon by us, as he just would not last a season injury free.

I think Tevez would be a much better signing. Proven in the Premiership, younger, and a damn-site better, too.

Yeah lets pay £30million and buy another star player that can't adapt to the prem, or who gets homesick after half a season, or lets buy Eto'o who will miss at least 2 months of next season because of the African cup. Theres no rush to win the league anyway is there!

I agree mate Tevez and Owen would be great, the only problem is Tevez is being touted at £40million at the moment. £20MILLION AND HE WOULD BE A GREAT BUY anything more would be a huge gamble.

I don't care what the Americans say, we do not have a bottomless pit of money.  Owen for 9 million would be an amazing bit of business and would mean there would be more money left in the kitty to ensure we get a world class winger, center back and full back

Owen has performed on every stage.  His goal per game ratio is fantastic.. even at Newcastle.  He looks more muscular, stornger that I have ever seen him and you just don't lose the knacl of finding the back of the net.

As already mentioned in a Liverpool team where he often played up on his own, he often pulled us out of the cr&p on is own, as he had no service.  Im the curent side he would have buckets of chances per game.

Why do people think he has suddnely lost it.  He is not old for a striker, in fact you could say he is coming into his prime now.  Its a no brainer.  If Owen is available, buy him!
Our job is simple, to support the club, not just parts of the club that are easy to support, but every one who plays a part, that includes ALL players.  We are stronger when we are all walking in the same direction. Walk On

The whole Owen saga,

Owen is with out question one of the best strikers Liverpool has had for at least 15 years, and it was very annoying when he left.

Since then he has been injured near enough constantly.

Im sure if we signed him back he would be valuable to us, not as valuable as he was before he left but all the same valuable (downsite more than Bellamy). The problem is can he stay injury free, or at least serious injury free.

Looking at it right now £9million would be a gamble, an excellent price for Owen but if he gets injured ala' Newcastle then that £9million suddently becomes a gamble to far.

I think Lando is right about Tevez, great player, why not take both.

Kuyt
Crouch
Tevez
Owen

He has far more to his game than Owen. Far more.

And I take it Berbatov hasn't proven himself, then, either, seeing as it's his first season, too?
