That dreaded time has finally come.....

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

"There has been no contact YET and as far as we are concerned Steven Gerrard is still our player." I was hoping against hope that Stevie would give the new manager at least 12 months anyway but, what a quote I think this quote just confirms everyones nightmare that we have now officially turned into a selling club.Ok the club will go on & HOPEFULLY Rafa will be able to get some kind of half decent replacement but when all is said & done the important thing I believe to come out of this sorry episode is that Liverpool FC will have  become a SELLING club :(  :(  :(

The last first team player to leave the club at his peak for another premiership (old first division) team was Ray Clemence in 1981 when he moved to Spurs...where he went on to win two F.A. cups and a UEFA cup.

Can anybody confirm if there has been any other big name sold since ?

People People i really dont understand ok ok ok 30 maybe even 40mil is a hell of a lot of money for a player BUT WHAT DOES IT SAY ABOUT OUR CLUB IF WE ARE WILLING 2 SELL ONE OF OUR BEST PLAYER'S

If this does happen i dont see how we can b a club wanting 2 move forward (SG) is one of the best players in england amd member hes just 24 ..
Ok a club is not ONE player BUT i really dont see anything good with the sale of him ......
MAybe if he wanted 2 go it would b a different story but i thought he just just a new 4 or 5 year deal And he juat become club captin

we wanna move forward as a club not back!!!!!!!!!

Let me put it in the simpliest of terms for you all,

If Gerrard Believes Benetiz is the right replacement for Houllier, He'll stay

If he thinks Benetiz is not the right man for the job then he'll go.

I've already expressed my thoughts a week or two ago so I won't dwell on

If Gerrard has any brain in his head he will stay and give Benitez some time.

He put up with houllier for the last 2 seasons of terrible football and results and now houllier is gone Gerrard wants to leave? ???

Way I see it he will be going for the money and nothing else.

There is no point keeping a player if they are not happy and in Owen's case aswell as Gerrard if they want out thats not a problem as they will be driven by greed.

Under houllier they were the 2 stars of the team and were relyed on way too much and under Benitez they will not be as important to the team.

So maybe they think they can hold the club to ransom and believe that we cannot do without them.

Benitez will show very quickly how good a manager he is and will do this with or without Owen and Gerrard.

If they really love the club as much as they say then they have the perfect chance by backing the manager and in Owen's case signing a long term contract otherwise they can both go ****** off.
Smith to Shankly:My thigh is a bit sore, but I think I could play.
Shankly to Fagan:Tell him,Joe.He has got no chance of playing.
Smith to Fagan:Tell him to sod off.It is not his leg,it's mine.
Shankly to Smith:Oh no son.You are wrong, son. It is not your leg.
It is Liverpool Football Club's leg.

Obviously i dont think any of you read my post on spreading silly rumours about stevie g, but I think you are all going off down the road and being led by stupid Newspaper headlines.

Steven Gerrard will probably get off the plane, and pick up a newspaper and think "what the hell is all this speculation about??".

Im sure it wont take him long to ridicule all these silly rumours he is going, and considering he hanst even been in the country to start them spinning.

He aint going nowwhere you fools.

Have been following the threads on this board for the last week....have been absolutely gutted....if John Bull is right, and he seems to be well connected....then the day he pulls on a blue shirt will be a sad day indeed.
I felt no worse after England went out on Thursday, and I was in Portugal for the France game and love my country as much as my club....but no player is bigger than the club, he'll get more cash in the smoke, but I doubt he'll get anymore medals.
