West Ham sign Tevez & Mascherano

Tevez (left) and Mascherano have been linked with the top clubs in Europe
West Ham have pulled off a major coup by signing Argentina World Cup stars Carlos Tevez and Javier Mascherano.
Striker Tevez, 22, and midfielder Mascherano, 22, join the Hammers from Brazilian side Corinthians on permanent deals for undisclosed fees.

The pair have been linked with moves to Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea.

But the Hammers are thought to have struck a deal with Media Sports Investments, who own the rights to the two players.

MSI were linked with a takeover of West Ham last season but eventually pulled out.

The club said: "West Ham United are delighted to announce the double signing of Argentinian World Cup stars Carlos Tevez and Javier Mascherano from Brazilian club Corinthians.

"The pair have been signed for an undisclosed fee and put pen-to-paper on permanent contracts with the club this afternoon. All other aspects of the transfers will remain confidential and undisclosed.

"The transfers represent a massive coup for the Hammers, who have beaten off some of Europe's biggest clubs to secure the services of the duo."

Tevez has emerged as one the most highly rated young strikers in the world since signing for Corinthians from Boca Juniors for £9.5m in December 2004.

He has been strongly linked with Chelsea this summer, with a transfer fee of between £20m and £60m being reported.

In May, Kia Joorabchian, the president of London-based MSI, said: "Tevez will leave Corinthians if a team pays the contract's release clause, which is between £69m and £83m."

Both Tevez and Mascherano returned to Argentina's squad for Sunday's friendly against Brazil at Arsenal's Emirates Stadium after signings their deals.

I've heard from a Hammer fan that MSI will be buying West Ham, so these two deals have been done to basically bully Terrance Brown into selling his shares along with the rest of the board.

It's sounds like a load of :censored:, but it's a possibility for sure.

Its strange how MSI own the players.  They have others on there books as well.  Have Corinthians been screwed from this.  Evening Standard in London says Corinthians accepted lower bids from West Ham and will get a bigger % of future sell on fees.  I cant see this to be the case though.  I really wanna know how much West Ham have actually paid for each player?  Tevez and Mascherano probably never heard of West Ham.  Still if your West Ham fan and seen the club miss out on Malbreanque u aint going to be too unhappy right now!!!

The Evening Standard also says West Ham are trying to get Cicinho which is more madness!!!

I said this to my brother earlier.  If your a West Ham fan and u see MSI doing this you aint gonna be too unhappy if MSI buy the club.  It will put huge pressure on the West Ham board to sell as MSI can guarantee big things.

That's my read on this situation--these deals are the opening salvo of MSI's takeover bid for West Ham.  It will be interesting to watch this one shake out!

Well West Ham is supposed to be "the fans club" and yet they are selling out, it makes me sick to be honest, I seriously hope that never happens to us. West Ham with MSI are no doubt guranteed trophies, which will hold no credit. But they'll lose the special qualities they have that make them a special club, so they're making a huge sacrafice in some extents.

Yet people call me a wind up merchant, West Ham fasn are just as passionate about their club as Liverpool fans are about theirs. West Ham sing and sing and sing some more.

Oasis, when you live in london, get on the same trains as 100s of them, all faces filled with scarves and only the bubbles song, starting fights and all that, then you tell me different.

Hmm do you reckon maybe west ham didnt have to pay a penny on the transfer and MSI will buy West Ham and then sell the players on for 40m+, recuperating their investment. Would be good business

Gab Marcotti was on five live saying that both players had also been offered to Man U, Arsenal and Chelsea. Doesnt seem to make much sense but I wonder if true how much Man Utd and Arsenal were quoted compared to what West Ham have paid, especially as no other details of the deal have been released.

Theres definately something not right about all this but it could turn out to be a good thing, if there is corruption here it could be Chelseas downfall and maybe we'll soon see them playing in Division 3. :D

Typical though that the Hammers sign two decent players and all of a sudden people are talking about them finishing in the top 4. ???

Something defo dodgy about this deal, the undisclosed transfer fees and the MSI involvement. I thought they were loan deals but no proper transfers, with abit of luck the pair of them will flop big time but i cant see it coz they are both class, mascherano especially.
