where have i heard that before?

they're the spanish version of inter milan. so much promise, so little achievement.

I'll be watching alot of Real Madrid and Barcelona games, because most of my mates watch the spanish liga and follow those two teams!

It is going to be really tough, Valencia will surely fight to win the title, so I think Real Madrid, Barca and Valencia will be the 3 teams to fight for the title this year. I don't think any other team will join the competition...

I like the look on Athletico Madrid, they have good players maybe they will try to get a Champions League spot?

Osasuna had a wonderful season last year, maybe fighting for Champions League spot again?

Joaquín makes Mestalla move

Thursday, 24 August 2006

Valencia CF have completed the transfer of Spain winger Joaquín Sánchez from Real Betis Balompié for a fee in the region of €24m. The 25-year-old was due to undergo a medical at the Mestalla before being presented to the press tomorrow.

Joaquín is a notable addition to a Valencia squad whose new faces for 2006/07 also include Asier del Horno and Fernando Morientes. He can look forward to a season of UEFA Champions League football with Quique Flores's team after they secured their group-stage place by overturning a 1-0 first-leg deficit with a 3-0 win against FC Salzburg in the third qualifying round on Tuesday.

The wide man had long been linked with a move away from Betis, for whom he made 219 league appearances and scored 32 goals after breaking into the first team in 2000. At one stage the Seville club had a €60m buyout clause inserted into his contract to deter would-be suitors but his departure became inevitable this summer after Joaquín confirmed his desire for a fresh challenge elsewhere.

Vicenté and Joaquin on the flanks will sure provide some width. Morientes should do well.

I love this league. My nan used to live in Vigo and I used to visit, so back in 2001 I adopted Celta as a sort of 2nd team, and have followed them ever since. Obviously not in the same way I support Liverpool though. They went down two seasons ago then bounced straight back up and finished a quality 7th last year, Uefa Cup for them this year. Think they'll do well to repeat it. Anyone remember Alexander Mostovoi? Very underrated player, met him while I was over there and got his autograph etc. He was superb.

Here is a clip of him in action, legend - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=plkqKhrI3G0

As for as the league goes, I was adamant that Madrid would win it a few weeks ago, but after watching Barca tear apart Espanyol the other night with some of the best football i've ever seen i'm not so sure. Should be a quality season though, whatever happens.

Watched Real Madrid yesterday and have to say was very disappointed.  I hope Capello doesnt decide to make Real hard to beat and less attacking cos yesterday was rubbish.  Raul being played on the left is just another example of making sure Raul stays in the team.  Zidane has gone and now Real have one player left who can actually run at players, commit players and actually make something happen.  Robinho is that player yet he is on the bench.  Take Raul out and play Robinho.  Raul is well past it and shouldnt be playing.  Cassano also should not be on that team!!!

Morientes has made a great start at Valencia 2 goals in 2 games. One of them was a 20 yarder.I hope he does well, but not so well that I start wondering if we should have sold him  :D

If you see a Real Sociedad fan with a big Liverpool flag fighting with Bilbao fans in the archrivals game Athletic - Real Sociedad , it wasn't me. The images could be seen in the TV. 1-1 at the end, their goal was an inexistent penalty. There was a handball of their striker (he acknowledged it at the end of the game) and the linesman said penalty.

Linesmen shoudn't decide penalties when they're so far away. Even less conceding penalties that they couldn't have possibly seen. Well, a point away, is a point away.

Bástards.

It was more astonishing the 0-3 against Sevilla in the Supercup, wasn't it?

One thing I miss in the premiership is the belief of the "not so big" teams that they can beat big teams. I don't think we are watching the beginning of a Barcelona crisis this season, just a bad form.

2-2 now. I really like Iniesta.  I liked him when he first played 2 seasons ago, quality player.  Messi is a real joy to watch, the way he just glides past players.

3-2 Gudjohnson.  Great goal!!

Nice thread Sabre.

For you guys that have Sky I have been told that this works.........as I don't have sky yet I thought maybe some of you would like this.......I beleive this is free of charge

If you want Real Madrid TV on Sky (not sure if it will work on other cable boxes).... do this :-

Push the 'Services' button on the remote.
Go to 'System Setup'
Then 'Add Channels'
In frequency type 11.681 then go to find channels at the bottom of that page.
Once you're in there, there is a channel called 51147, go over to it and push the Yellow button on your remote.

After that when you push 'Services' again and go to the 'Other Channels' section, the channel should be in there.... and thats Real Madrid TV.

(I did not think this warranted a new thread)
