just noticed that for some reason chelski is after another left back -- guess he just isn't good enuff -- those guys are such tools and i'm just glad he showed him how good he really is

ain't no way rafa would sell him to moronio

He has been there for so long that people forget what its like when hes not there. How good is he? The market will tell us: my guess is that he would sell for about 10-15m, how many other LBs in the premiership are going for that?
The truth is he is a good LB, he improved his defensive game alot last season and him stepping up was a key reason we were so good defensively. As Troare showed us, even having one defender out of synch with the rest is catastrophic. How many times last season can you remember Riise being at direct fault resulting in a goal. Im sure there are a few, cant really think of any atm (but that doesnt prove anything).

Every team concedes goals, if a goal gets through then people want someone to blame, and if its half Riise and half Hypia or half Riise and half Carragher then people will always give them the benefit of the doubt over Riise. This is not only not fair to Riise, but often gives other defenders a little too much credit (such as the Maccabi Haifa goal).

I was at the match, got on the tele and I even get to eat a bit off humble pie aswell. Its all good mate.

But lets face it if Peter Chec would off been playing it wouldnt off went in. Thank god he werent playing. As I think that wud off spoilt me day a wee bit. LOL

I still stand by what ive said in this thread and im glad other people have noticed these things about Riise. Do you think I want Riise to play badly?

My issue is you saying he's shiite, which is a very harsh criticism. Your original comment was that you lost count how many times he has fckuked up on the pitch and that he only shows glimpses of greatness.

That is incorrect and a very stupid comment.

Its times when he is quiet and doesn't have much influence on the game where it is noticable and you question where he is. But if the opposition aint scoring from the left flank, you know that it is because Riise is doing what he has been told to do.

With Gonzo in the frey, get used to seeing Riise in the back 4 on a consistant basis this term, and hope to God that he doesn't help conceed goals, but don't go on calling the fella shiite, after all, he's not Diouf!

Ive never mentioned him going missing at all. And maybe my comment about him being shitttte was a bit harsh but it was said in anger. As I have noticed Riisse faults along time ago. Hes not good enough for Liverpools first team in my oppinion. An well see if Rafa thinks hes good enough, only time will tell. Riise's faluts are not that he goes missing its that he cant pass a ball, he cant cross a ball opting to hooooof the ball instead off picking a team mate out. There aint anyone who watches football who could argue that he hasnt got a good shot on him but, that alone isint enough in my book.

can't pass a ball. Ok im slightly confused here , on countless occations ive seen riise playing inch perfect cross field passes. Ok yes i agree his crossing could be better but its not that bad .His crosses could easily be improved.

I am still in the Risse is a good player camp, but one of his cross's against Chelsea was just sooooo bad.

People tend to forget how much Riise has done for the club. Yes, he might not be the best of left back. But he does give us the option from the left flank. How many impt goals have he scored?

Just because of one lousy game, and some people thinks he is :censored:

Why does Crouch get bought into every debate? We're not talking about Crouch, we are talking about Riise. You know that ginger haired lad who scores some cracking goals?

Riise isn't a bad player, nor is he a great player,. He'll do the job with no fuss, he'll get you goals, he'll work hard and give us options.

Why people are moaning is beyond me, you could do a lot worse than Riise. I certainly wouldn't sell him, he proved two days ago that he is capable of producing something out of nothing, just like he has in the past.

well said. i cant think of any other player in the world that can play the game the same as JAR can. Powerful shot, reliable penalty taker (forget CL Final), a good crosser of the ball, unlimited fuel tanks, work rate better than any other player in our team and he covers more left wing than any other left sided player. I believe he is as solid as Finnan on the right and not many people slate him.

We do not need a group of "world class" players. What we need is a group of QUALITY players that are willing to play their hearts out for the club, week in week out.

We have prove that point, in 2005 by beating AC Milan in the CL finale.

Let us not be so critical of those old guards that have done so much for this club. Instead we should applude them.
