Fsv mainz 05 v liverpool - Pre-season friendly

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby madred » Fri Aug 04, 2006 10:37 pm

I'll try and put things into a little perspective here. If someone had told me after i walked out of Anfield on the night a terrible Liverpool side went down to a 1-0 defeat against GAK in the champions league qualifier that we will go on to win the tournament that season i would have thought that they were mental. Time to forget and prepare for the next game as Rafa will be right now.

I may be happy if/when we get through the qualifiers and beat Chelsea but thats beside the point.
We are Liverpool FC and dont like losing to anyone, let alone 5-0 that is embarassing. It may not have an effect on how we start the season, but we have a little thing called pride to think about.
WTF has my post got to do with goths ? I never hinted the world was ending, i stated that being murdered by a german mid table side was a major set back. The last time i remember losing like that in a friendly it was against Ajax (when they were European champions) but you probably supported someone else then.

You need anger management help if you're getting p.issed off over a pointless friendly that in two months time will be forgotten about. I agree Liverpool FC shouldn't lose but again it's a friendly. Pride don't make me laugh, that has nothing to do with a friendly. Your post has everything to do with "goths" because you're acting like one, I'm surprised you've not come out with a comment like "Oh no it's the end of the world, such a bummer dude". Nice dig at the end. :D

Oasis, i will ask you a question.

Assuming you can play football, you are having a pre-season friendly with your sunday league team, you get tw@tted 5-0.

Would you think ah f'ck it, i feel fitter and we've learnt alot in this game, or would you be p!ssed off and embarassed.

I know which one i would be.

Keep spouting sh!t about goths and the end of the world lad, i know i still have things in perspective.
As i said to AB i am still confident about the season, but its absolute b@llocks to say a result like that bears no significance at all, as it was just a friendly.
I cant be bothered with insults but that is a losers attitude, as i said thats not meant as an insult, but winners want to win anything they compete in....be it a game of pool or a football match.

I play football, I played recently in a tournament and my side got spanked in every but one game. I didn't lose any sleep over it as I never played with that particular team before and I myself was played out of position.

I was bothered a bit, but I didn't lose any sleep over it. Now I doubt that Benitez any of the senior players will worry themselves to death about this game.

I rather we f#ck up now rather than at the start of the season like we did last year.

I am still totally optimistic about the season, and think we could win the title.
I am not happy with selections pre-season and results.
They may not matter when the season starts but the manner of the defeats and the scorelines are not good enough.
Not going over the top, just stating a fact.

He didn't portray you like that, you did yourself by completely over-reacting. You're optimistic? You could of fooled me.

Why could i have fooled you ? I am commenting on tonights game. Not the season we are about to begin.

Log on tomorrow after you've calmed down and you'll see what an over-reaction you've made of the match.

You don't have things in perspective though. You're annoyed about a pointless friendly which was played to give youngsters and fringe players as well as first teamers a chance of gain fitness and it was a chance for Rafa to try out new things and the way you are acting is like one of those loser goths who thinks being dumped or having a slight set back is the end of the world.

You think what you like, but if you'r getting angry over a pointless game of pool with your mates and pointless football matches I'll surprised you have any friends, that's not an insult that's a fact. It's nice to be competitive but beong overally competitive is also a sign of a loser.

So you can carry on getting worked up about the loss, I won't, I don't want to give myself a heart attack.

Yeah i agree with what your saying except for the goth bit, the people who act like everything is the end of the world are usually called emos, goths are different  :D

Maybe I've overacted A LITTLE, but 5-0 come on it's not acceptable, I can accept the fact that we'll get beat by the odd 1 or 2 but 5 and not even scoring well I find that very dissapointing  :no

Wtf are you talking about ?

I am talking about LFC and you keep coming out with utter sh!te.

You constantly talk rubbish, have little or no feelings for the club and come on trying to make me look like a n@b.

After your statement about Liverpool losing not making a difference to you, your opinion as a so called fan doesnt bother me, but trying to bring other strange goth things into it is just stupid.

Ace i can understand your frustrations but we have to give Rafa some credit for giving the fringe players a chance to impress while no points or prizes are up for grabs. If he didnt alot of us would be giving him a bit of stick for not giving them a go.

Does ANYBODY really believe Rafa is going to say "good game lads , dont worry it was only a friendly. That was just the performance I wanted from you ". I bet Rafa is blazing mad and gives them a bollocking. Rafa is a winner and winners hate to lose!

It makes total sense that S@int, i may be getting dragged into a stupid argument with Oasis thats going a bit of the topic, but what your saying is spot on.
Team spirit, morale and the winning habit are just as much a factor of pre-season friendlies as regaining fitness and trying new systems are.

It bothers you when it shouldn't. It's a friendly game of pool ffs! As for me not being passionate, that's what you think but everyone is different, what your passion is obviously isn't what I'm passionate about. I forget about something's when I go home, that's because at the end of the day the three most important things in life is family, friends and health and I have all three. Maybe I'm easily pleased but to me that's all my life is about. So I'm sorry if I don't cry myself to sleep when Liverpool lose, I'm sorry I don't get smashed off my head when Liverpool win, but that's how I am.

I can't be bothered to have this debate anymore, but I am not making you out to be an over-reacting person, you're doing it yourself.

You beat yourself up over a pointless friendly and I'll make myself a brew.
