Most of our country belongs to Germans - Prince Charles alone owns most of Cornwall and half of London.We have had to pay for that lot for a lot longer than 800 years and we are still paying for them.

Fair enough,no Englishman can answer the question "what would you do if the Germans took hold of part of your country"?

I presume none of you would fight,none of you would rebel,none of you would fight back.

Mate, had it happened hundreds of years ago, we wouldn't WANT to do anything as we'd all be Germans.

The fact is, your country kept it's culture.

Stop bitching at the English about it, when those who started it are all dead.
Are you still bitter and twisted towards the German nation for the 2 World Wars? I somehow doubt it.

BTW - Why do you actually want a united Ireland, when it's them you are actually fighting with?

It makes sense that Germany is "in charge" though, It's the biggest country in Europe and has the strongest economy. Frankfurt is the hub of mainland Europe in terms of access to the rest of the continent and the financial sector.

Hardly, those 80 year olds around you probably think a Fascist/Nazi regime is still in charge, when in fact nothing could be further from the truth (their is sill a Neo Nazi element in Germany, but even Engand has one).

Germany isn't going to take over the World or anything like that, it just has a large say in Europe because it is a prosperous demcocracy with the largest population in Europe. Many Germans are very fluent in English as well which helps as it is the lingua franca these days.

Germany is one of the more passive world powers, it never supports the US in it's invasion of Iraq, Afghanistan etc. Germany is very weary of it's past and most of it's citizens can't beleive that Germany was the way it was 60 years ago, they hate what Hitler stood for and don't want Germany to return to those grim old days.

You're being a little paranoid. There are more dangerous countries like North Korea and Iran about, and major world problems like terrorism etc to combat, rather than worrying about Germany ffs. Germany is an ally, not an enemy.

at least the germans can read & write

i really want to emigrate but because i was dragged up through britain's sh*te state school system i can't speak any foreign languages, now i'm old it's gonna take forever to get to learn french/spanish/italian. my line of work means i'd have to be completely fluent and i don't fancy taking a pay cut by starting another career :sniffle

as for the pound i really don't give a monkeys, it's only a currency at the end of the day. do the irish miss the punt? i bet they don't give a sh*te. every time you or i go on holiday the banks skin us on exchange rates, every time a british company trades with a european country the banks skin them both on exchange rates, it's pointless and expensive.

as for as the EU money that goes to the poorer countries (eg. poland), doesn't anyone actually realise what this does!? for years british firms have never been able to sell a thing to the poles cos they've all been skint. spend a bit of EU cash on them and you're helping them develop as a country and sooner or later you've got 35 million poles with money to spend on products and services provided by british companies. to say we're giving them handouts for nothing is a bit short sighted if y'ask me
