I was speaking to some Chelsea fans recently (I had to have a wash afterwards) and they said the only Liverpool players they would want to improve their team were Gerrard and Riise.

Usual Chelski bullsh*t of course and admittedly it might be because left back is a bit of a problem position for them, but it shows that JAR is pretty highly rated elsewhere.

He is certainly not "shitee" as described above.
His attacking qualities and goalscoring threat outweigh occasional defensive lapses IMO.

How many times do you see the worlds best full backs required to use their "bad" foot regularly. As a left back there shouldn't really be a massive requirement to use your right foot.

The comment about his inability to tackle is b*llshit also!

Riise has improved greatly this season defensively, and he doesnt get caught out that much position wise any more. Cant tackle? thats :censored:

, if there is a winger running at him you always back him to do the business, and also he is quite good in the air defensively now (which was one of his weaker points previosly). I think that Rafa is not really buying Aurelio becasue Riise is not good enough. He is buying him becasue we have no (Liverpool-standard) back-up. Instead of buying a squad player he is trying to turn left back into a really strong position for us.

Also in reference to Ace's comment about him getting alot less protection from Kewell then Finnan gets from Gerrard, i dont think that that is true. I belive that one of the main reasons why Rafa likes Kewell is precisely because he gets back and defends well. Last season he was great coming back. Not saying that he got more than Finnan, but i think that Kewell did about as much defending as Stevie did.

So. lots of players have faults. Momo cant shoot (even tho he used to be a striker) but we all still love him. Carragher Cant attack very well but he is still the best defender we've got. Hyypia cant take penalties. Cisse cant play football.

What Im trying to say is no player is perfect except Stevie.

Plus I dont consider Riise a left back I think he is a left midfielder or left wing back, even attacking left midfielder in the extreme his workrate pace and attacking ability is there for all to see and I wouldnt want anybody else in the world.

So who ever it was who said Riise is Shitee I say this to you.

Think it's gone quiet as the deal is done and dusted mate. He will be one of the 4-5 people Rafa announces at Anfield shortly after the world cup.

if jar wasn't in the plans he wouldn't have gotten an extension. rafa knows that to make a run at chel$ki, he needs cover and left back has not been our strong point. traore may try hard but he just isn't good enuff.
jar's work rate,his tenacity and his shot, and (not talked of) his throw ins are worthy of any team. yes his game isn't perfect but there are players who you look to the positives they bring rather than their deficiencies and jar offers quite a bit.
and face it if you can get any good player before chel$ki buys them -- grab em
