Seeing how shyte th French league is he will probabaly fit right back in. :D

do you actually watch the french league?  just another ignorant english footy fan who has no idea about ligue 1.  yes it not as good as the EPL but to say it is :censored: shows you have no idea.

when was the last time you actually watched a ligue 1 game for 90mins?

I watch at least 1 full match every week as well as the regular round up in Eurogoals.

Oh and as it hapened I went to watch Monaco vs PSG this season.

I wasnt insinutaing that every player in the French league is overrated. But the fact is the defensive wise the French league is less physically demanding than the Premiership hence why Morientes was able to score so many with his head.

He found that when he came to England he could not dominate the air as much as defenders are more aware and physical in those situations.

As for Cisse he found lots of room when he was at Auxerre on the pitch for the same reason. In England he was unable to make decent runs and find good spaces and when he did his lack of finishing skills let him down. Are you sayinbg his price was justfied ?

And yes there have been many players that have flourished in the French league but failed to do it in Europe.

i am not debating Cisse's price.  what am saying is him and other prolific strikers in france didnt/don't score goals because the league is rubbish.

if that was so true why did morientes only get 10 goals?  why did Saviola only get 7 goals for monaco. the guy started 27 games!

i could argue that the EPL must be rubbish if Marlon Harwood can score goals.  or how about when marcus stewart got 20+ for ipswich?  rememeber kevin phillips at sunderland!

Good point. But i think im jusitfied in the cases of Cisse and Morientes. They were both a victim of their reputation in their respective countries.

Maybe you dont understand what I mean by "free is OK" ....

If we going to buy him 1.5m, I would be very upset but free is OK.

I still think that by swaping HK with Defoe is the best way for us . I think now Defoe is NOT happy in Spurs (because lack of 1st team action  ) and because of that, he "out" of England Team. It's also means that he "hungry" for success and "prove" to all ppl that he should be in WC now.

Good point. Although we woulds then be short of options on the left.

With Gonzalez we would have 2 of the best left sided players in the Prem.

Why would you want rid of Kewell, and what makes you think Tottenham would swap a £10m player for our £5m one?

Free in transfer fees ?

Maybe, but this would mean a higher wage. Because he's free Viduka would expect and negotiate a "higher" weekly wage.

He aint worth 30, 40 or even 50 grand a week the money would be better used on a better cause.

To be honest mate, a 24 year-old Viduka would be a terrific signing for us, but as you say, he's far too overweight and lazy to join the club.

Fat, idle w*nker, in a nutshell.

To be fair Lando, Viduka was a fat sh.it even when he was 24

The guy's got talent but he's also got a screw loose (remember he went AWOL at Celtic because he was 'depressed'), a weight problem and he's the wrong side of 30.  Then there's the fact he and Kewell hate each other and the fact we need goalscorers yet Viduka has never had a good scoring record in England.  We'll never sign him... I hope.

we have an experienced striker in Robbie Fowler, Viduka is not necessary even if he is free. An emerging young, or relatively young talent is what we need...now Defoe/Bent seems obvious choices but i wouldn't too excited about either of them joining. Bent had one good season in an average team, for premiership he could continue this form, but in Europe the jury's out. Defoe has a natural selfish streak which we all hated Cisse for. Im sure if he wasn't in constant battle for a starting place at Spurs you woulda seen more of this....but he is talented, no question there....id prefer Bent outta the two.

But who knows what Rafa is thinking....but i trust his judgement.

if it is true that Portsmouth have had a £10m bid rejected by tottenham for defoe i can't see them selling unless they get £12m - £15m
