Will cisse go to? - Cisse

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

At the end of the day, Marseille or Lyon would not have been paying the cash upfront so it's not money we would have had in the bank anyway.

I would have thought the French FA have an insurance in place so we should be looking at them paying his wages whilst he is injured so therefore its like he is already off the wage bill.

I dont think so ... Maybe FIFA should have a new rule. If a player have a serious injure during the game, the opp. should pay all the "bills" until that player fit to play again .....

Mike as Bavlondon's post says Rafa was going to use the money from Cisse  :;):

Bav's post:

RAFA BENITEZ today admitted Djibril Cisse's latest horrific injury will impact on his summer spending plans.

The Liverpool manager was banking on raising as much as £8m from the sale of Cisse to Marseille or Lyon, with talks reaching an advanced stage just hours before the striker suffered a broken leg in France's last warm-up game.

Cisse suffered a break of the tibia and fibula, ruling him out until at least Christmas, and ending the possibility of an imminent sale.

While Benitez has sympathy for the 25-year-old, from a business perspective the injury has serious repercussions.

Hopes of raising capital to launch bids for certain targets depended on the early sale of players such as Cisse.

Now Benitez must re-assess his options, and may even have to re-consider the futures of other saleable assets to ensure he's not frustrated with his summer re-building plans.

"There are two issues here," said Benitez.

"Firstly, from the players point of view I'm really sorry for Djibril. That's important. It's really unfortunate for him. But it's true it's now impossible for him to be sold.

"We were expecting to sell him to Marseille or Lyon and planned using the money for other players. We were talking to both clubs. Now we won't have this money. We won't expect him to play again until November or December."

However, Benitez insists there will be no problem for manager and player working together next season, despite it being made clear Cisse was being sold.

"It was a professional decision and we were honest with Djibril. There will be no problem when he comes back," added Benitez.

Seville's Daniel Alves - who Benitez hopes to sign imminently - and Feyenoord's Dirk Kuyt are Benitez's prime targets, with another striker, likely to be either Darren Bent or Craig Bellamy, also in the manager's sights.

I hope that you dont mean the opponents should pay his wages, thats ludicrous. Your unhealthy obsession with cisse is unbelievable, in no way was it the chinese defenders fault, it was the way cisse fell that did his leg. Unfortunately things like this happen in fooball all the time, thats the nature of the sport so there is no point being sour about it mate.

People saying its a disgrace to be concerned about transfer money rather than cisse are being a tad harsh in my view. Obviously everyone will sympathise with the lad but at the end of the day people on here have been slating him for god knows how long but now they seem more concerned about cisse than teh club. We all know its terrible for him but the truth is that we needed his sale badly to fund a title challenge and people have the right to be conerned about the club. If cisse had gone everyone with the exception of graeme noble and liverpoolmadman would have been glad to see the back of him for the good of the club, because they are more concerned with club rather than a person they dont even know, and rightly so. So why are people being slated for being more concerned about what affect this will have on liverpools immediate future than the cisse's leg.

No one will touch him now, so even if Rafa offered him to a club for nothing they wouldn't take him. He's a Liverpool player and he broke his leg whilst still being under a Liverpool contract, we have no choice and it's the correct choice to help him get back on his feet and not sale him on.

I wish ppl would show more compassion, I don't particulary like the man either but I wouldn't wish this misfortune on anyone, not even the Neville Brothers.

He must have more than that surely? And even at £18million we'd be at least another £8million short of being able to buy two new improved strikers who can hack it and a right winger. I'm dead sure Rafa will have more than £10million to spend, I'd say he would have around £20million.

Must admit my first thought when i heard he had broken his leg was 'sh.it, that's buggered Rafa's transfer plans' (i'm not gonna deny it) but having seen the video, which actually made me wince out loud i'm absolutely gutted for the lad. The break actually looks almost as bad as the first one. I think he deserved to stay injury free for a long period after battling back so bravely from the first break. I hope he gets the full support he deserves from every fan of Liverpool Football Club.

When you break both of your legs like that your career is definitely in jeopardy, because these sort of injuries will never recover properly.  Good luck to him see you later!

Lyon will not buy Cissé for sure. they didnt really want to buy him few weeks ago .. so now with this injury :/ And Marseille don't really have any cash to spend on a player that won't play for six months. its a bet they cant afford for now.

guy roux was on the radio this morning and said that djib would be back in five or six months for sure. he was pretty confident.

Other thing.. picking Govou instead of Anelka or even giuly is a big mistake. most of the ppl in here are :censored: mad about that descision ^^

now about the insurance thing, it would be normal that the FFF pay for everything but the fifa is currently arguing about that subject in court with the G14 and the Abidal case. so in few weeks things could change.

well yes :/ but think about ronaldo and his knee it was worst and he came back and since he had no problem with that so theres still hope that cissé will have a great carreer.

He will be back anyway i have no doubts about that. Look, Ronaldo had huge injuries with his knee; he came back, won the world cup (8 goals) and signed to real madrid. If djib was 30 years old i would get worried but since he's a young player and have motivation i'm really not. He will score many goals for Liverpool in the futur anyway i have no doubts ;)

I pretty much doubt that mate, this injury could cause him to lose some of his pace; his biggest asset and if he recovers to play again he will be sold, if anyone will buy him.
