Just out of curiosity, how many of your 79 posts have not been essentially: "I rate Cisse let's keep him"?

Time to change the record, FFS!

Look at the standard of goalkeeping in that clip under his name. See how early he goes down instead of standing big on his near post...

He's obviously on some sort of wind up... My bet is its an A.B. alter ego.

Lyon chairman Jean-Michel Aulas has moved to play down talk of an imminent move for Djibril Cisse.

The French champions have been strongly linked with a summer swoop for Cisse, who is yet to convince Rafa Benitez that he is the man to lead Liverpool's front line next season.

Cisse has not been slow to offer his own appraisal of the situation and, in declaring his love for Marseille, he has clearly not enamoured himself to Aulas.

While not entirely ruling about an approach in the future, Aulas is keen to reiterate that a deal at this stage looks highly unlikely, denying that he had met with the pacey Frenchman in the process.

''I didn't meet Djibril Cisse and I am not forecasting any meeting,'' confirmed Aulas.

''He talked about Lyon? I know, but he also stated his heart is at Marseille.

''We would like his heart to be at Lyon but if that is not the case, then it is useless.

''After all, we still have to pay him! Except perhaps if Liverpool were to loan him.''

Lyon have been linked with a whole host of forward thinking players, but Aulas insists that he will only open the purse strings if an exceptional opportunity presents itself.

''We do not intend to hire a forward, unless there is a special opportunity.''

Marseille chairman Pape Diouf has revealed he has met with Cisse and is hoping to hear if he would be interested in a move to Stade Velodrome.

"I have met with Djibril Cisse," Diouf told La Provence.

"I have a good feeling. I am waiting for his decision today (Tuesday), so we would start negotiating with Liverpool."

Djibril Cissé agreed a move to Marseille following talks with the French club. The Marseille president Pape Diouf travelled to Merseyside to open negotiations with Liverpool.

Liverpool's chief executive Rick Parry yesterday returned from a fortnight's holiday in the Caribbean and his first task will be to have talks with Diouf over the France international forward's future.

Diouf will seek to persuade Parry to accept a loan move for Cissé with an option to purchase the player at a later date. However, Parry is likely to hold out for a £7m transfer in the knowledge that Marseille are highly capable of raising funds through the sale of the France international winger Franck Ribéry to Manchester United, Arsenal or Lyon.

Parry may even raise the suggestion of an exchange deal, though Diouf, who values Ribéry at £25m, will undoubtedly resist. Lyon had considered an approach for Cissé but they would want to take the player only on loan.

Meanwhile Claudio Ranieri's talks with Marseille over his becoming the next manager at the Stade Vélodrome appeared close to collapse last night as the club feared the Italian's financial demands would be too great.

Marseille president Pape Diouf will meet Liverpool officials on Wednesday to discuss the transfer of Djibril Cisse.

Diouf is hoping to finalise an agreement with the FA Cup winners to take Cisse to Marseille on loan, with the option of a permanent transfer.

Cisse has already expressed a wish to link up with the French giants and Diouf confirmed talks are scheduled with Liverpool.

"For Cisse, it is going in a very good way," Diouf told AFP.

"I will be in Liverpool on Wednesday to meet the English officials."

France international striker Cisse has also been linked with Lyon, although the Ligue 1 champions played down an interest earlier in the week.

Diouf is aware Lyon have the capacity to outmuscle other clubs in the transfer market and insists Marseille will not become embroiled in an auction for Cisse.

He added: "We know when a player is playing overseas, especially in England, we're often talking about a lot of money.

"But there is also some competition for his signature and, once again, it's called (Lyon president) Jean-Michel Aulas.

"I don't know exactly what he's offering, but I categorically refuse to get into a bidding war because I don't believe in paying more than market value for any player.

"Just because there's some competition - and long live competition - we won't lose our heads and go way over the player's value.

"Djibril would love to wear the colours of Marseille. He has said it publicly and revealed his sentiments for this club."

If Marseille get Cisse they should try very hard to keep Ribery as well. if they can keep ribery and get Cisse the Ligue 1 title race should be very exciting next season.

in other news:

THIERRY HENRY and Djibril Cisse are likely to lead France's attack in the team's opening World Cup match against Switzerland.

France coach Raymond Domenech named the pair to start in today's friendly against China, having said the team to face the Chinese would start next Tuesday.

Despite Cisse spending much of the season on the bench at Liverpool, David Trezeguet and Louis Saha appear to have dropped down to reserve strikers.
