Who won't be here next season - I always hate this part

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

First things first total respect to West Ham they made the final this year an amazing one many teams would have sat back at 2-0 they kept going

To my original point after every final the sadest part is saying good bye to some of our heroes.

After the Champions league final last year we waved goodbye to cult heroes like Igor Biscan, Vladimer Smicer as well as the overated Milian Baros. Al three made a tellin contibuation to us winning that Final.

But now a year on and we have just won the F.A cup final in a truly amazing game with soem brilliant goals on both sides. But after this epic final the question arises who will be part of the team next year and who will be shown the exit door.

Djimi Troare- I love the guy he cracks me up everytime he plays beacuse he just looks so clumsy and usless. To be fair to the lad he is not that bad a player a solid slide tackler even though he has to make those saving tackles beacuse he made a mistake in the first place. He is alrite in the air as well but lacks concentation, distribuation and his crossing is poor for a left back so for me he has to go heard fulham were in for him earlier in the season maybe they will come back.

Luis Garcia- It really hurt me when I read in a paper that he might be on his way out. I personally can't see it. Rafa loves the guy so do the fans really frustrating but amazing if he is on form I think he will be stayin.

Fernando Morintes- We all know what a class player he was and still has some worth in him (4-5mil) and his recent comments sound encouraging but too many poor preformances coupled with no exsitant finshing and poor hold up play and control seems for me at elast to have sealed his fate I really cant see him being at Liverpool come next season.

Djibiril Cisse- For me this guy could be very good. His control and awarness as we all know is poor, but he is lightning quick and can score goals if provided the right kind of service. I think he plays best when people hit the balls down the channels and over the top for him to run onto and if we keep doin that he can score goals and his attiitude has really turned around recently. But i get the feelin Rafa just does nt fancy him not really his sort of player but you never no I hope he stays but it would nt surpise me is he is kicked out.

Dietmar Hamman- What a player in both finals for me he changed the game so calm so controlled and a great player and it breaks me heart to lose him. But he will simply not get enough games next year Alonso Sissoko and Gerrard will make up the central midfeild and I think Hamman will so himself at another club but what a palyer.

Stephen Warnock- Again a brilliant tackler and a very commited player, good going forward. But with the iminent arrival of Aurellio will he be able to make the team I can't see it. One of my favorite player but maybe just lacks that little bit of quality would be perfect for someone liek Blackburn or Middlesborough or Man City.

Jerzy Dudek- What a hero last year but we all know about his lapses in conentration played well when he has had to coem in this season and wil always be remmebered as a hero, would really like to see Carson come in next year as Reina's number 2

Obviously Cheyrou, Le tallac and Whitbread and the rest of the loan signings with the expection of Pongolle being sold as well.
So who do you guys think will be leavin have a missed anyone out

I think out of our current first team squad Traore and Morientes need to go, most of our on loand players need to go too.

I can honestly see Dudek staying for some reason, I think he's happy enough to sit on the bench now and just play in Cup games and matches against lesser oponents to give Reina a rest.

My guess based on who I'd definitely ship out - Cisse, Traore, Diao, Cheyrou, Le Tellec, Kirkland

Players who Rafa doesn't really seem to want or may not get a renewed contract - Sinama Pongolle, Hamann

Players who most fans want out but Rafa will keep is Morrientes, but then Rafa may surprise me.

-Hamann is not going anywhere, he has a one year extension on his contract afre making more than 20 appearances. That was the clause in the contract he signed last year

-Luis Garcia, he's Rafa's love child, he's our supersub. Hate him or love him, this lad is important to us. He's not consistant enough to play in the starting 11, but he's important enough to have in the squad. He's scored 12 goals this season despite being injured and not playing much. Every single goal he has scored this season has been important to the game in some way. We've only lost one game when he's scored and that was against Arsenal earlier this season. He has scored 25 goals in two years, must keep him around

I don't know whether Cisse or Morientes will stay. Morientes has not proven himself and Benitez knows that. He might give him one last chance because his family has just now settled in Liverpool. But Benitez can be a ruthless fecker when he needs to so nothing is for certain. Morientes won't give us the same amount of money if we sell him because he hasn't scored enough. He still has reputation in Spain and France, so who knows.

Cisse is the player we can get most money on. He's scored 19 goals and has been in fine form as of late, which means that there might be clubs willing to pay 8-10 million for him [14 if you're Houllier]. I don't think Benitez rates him and we all know why, Cisse has frustrated the manager too much imo.

Yesterday Gerrard said that if we sign one more striker to play alongside good players i.e. Morientes,Fowler and Crouch we will be set. Note that he didn't mention Cisse which could mean that Cisse is on his way out or that Gerrard forgot to mention him but I see no reason why he could had when Cisse scored in the game.

Jerzy,Kirkland,Traore[and perhaps Warnock] along with other loan signings as you said will be sold.

Dudek, Le Tallec, Traore, Morientes, Cisse (i think) and I think that Didi will quietly leave and probably return to Germany or go into coaching (hopefully with us). I'm sure we'll have many more discussions about this when players actually leave, or just linked. Rafa moves in mysterious ways.

Hamann has had a one year contract extension after an appearance clause in his contract.

We're still going to need to sign one central-midfielder. 4 CM's seems to be no longer enough in the league with all the games. I've heard that we've sign a young Argentinian central-midfielder, and Didi could teach the lad a lot of things which is great to hear.

i watched the match on the bbc yeaterday and lineker and hansen kept firing loaded comments and innuendo`s at ian wright about the possibility of shaun wright phillips joining liverpool.
wright just kept on laughing and acting all coy saying `its no secret shaun wants to play more games` and firing back `your trying to set me up here gaz!` whilst giving lineker a look that said i told you that in private.
this wasnt a one off exchange either the theme carried on throughout the afternoon in the form of a private joke.
with the rumours in the press recently that hinted that liverpool were trying to offload kewell behind the scene`s to raise funds for a high profile bid it makes you wonder.
i heard somewhere that rafa wants to keep dudek and is looking for offers for carson as well.
the arrival of agger probably spells the end of traore`s anfield career too, traore was one of houlliers first signings so he must be one of the clubs longest serving players along with the homegrown lads.

I hope Hamann retires with us as I think he'd be offered a coaching role, and when you think of it, theres no one better to coach our midfielders.

I seriously don't think Cisse is going anywhere, at least not for another season. I think he's showed Rafa that he's up for the fight, and you have to give it to him, he's changed his attitude around and has kept his head down.

Bascombe says that Rafa rates Wright-Phillips but Kenyon recognizes that we and the Gooners are their main threats so he will do no business with us. If SWP does leave it will be on a loan, and I hear a loan back to CIty.

Cisse may need to be our sacrificial lamb in order to add more money to the transfer kitty. Between Morientes and Cisse, we can sell Cisse at a higher price.

Whilst I agree with you A.B. I've just got a gut feeling he'll be here for another year at least.

About Wright - Phillips, I think Chelsea are that arrogant they'd be happy to sell him to us with the attitude of it doesn't matter who we have, we still won't be strong enough for Chelsea. I think there's a chance he will be here next season, Ian Wright has been throwing various remarks about us and Shaun, I think he know's something we don't. I also heard we are going to make a move for Darren Bent.

yeah i couldnt see chelsea selling anyone to us or united/ arsenal myself mate but lineker kept on saying stuff like `if liverpool had a really quick little winger....` then everyone in the studio to a man would pause smiling and knowingly look at wright who`d burst out laughing and start dramatically rolling around his seat and start saying `aargh no gaz this is too on top mate` and all that type of stuff.
looked weird to me.

There certainly will be a few changes this summer I think.

Cisse will almost certainly leave.  It's good to see him play a bit better in recent weeks as it might make a few more clubs take notice and offer a decent fee for him.  As far as the other strikers go, I have a feeling Morientes will be kept, although imo I'd get rid of him before Cisse, for a striker he carries almost no goal threat at all these days, it's actually painful watching him sometimes.  Pongolle and Le Tallec will probably also leave on permanent deals, although if Pongolle can be convinced to stay as back-up there's a chance he'll be kept - but I honestly think he's coming to the stage where needs to be playing every week.

I know that Hamann has played enough games this season to trigger the clause that allows him to stay another year, but lets be honest, contracts mean very little these days.  I have a feeling Hamann might be replaced this summer, but again I'd be happy enough if he stays another year.

I think the stories about Garcia, Kewell and Kromkamp being transferred are garbage to be honest.  Although I don't think Garcia will get as much game time next season with Gonzalez and probably another wide midfielder joining this summer.

Traore, Warnock or even both might be sold I reckon.  If Aurelio comes in then he and Riise are adequate for left back.  Traore and Warnock have struggled to get into the side even without Aurelio to compete with so I wouldnt be surprised if both of them leave.  I quite like Warnock and if he stays as a squad player I'll be happy enough, but Traore has to go, he's a liability.

Don't know how many years Cheyrou, Diao or Kirkland are still contracted for, or maybe one or two of these deals even run out this summer, but I don't think any of them will play for LFC again.
