I think we're just gonna have to get used to seeing our top player linked with moves out of Anfield every summer. I know it's highly annoying and creates a few hysterical fans but that's just the way the media works, they're in it for the money and Gerrard sells. We'll just have to put it to one side and ignore it.

The problem is last season we were saying this when the chelsea sh!t happened.

"He'll never leave", "Its media hype...", etc

And look what happened, not only did we nearly lose him, he actually showed that he isn't as committed as other players like Carragher.

No one even listens to this Floro guy, hes on his way out himself. Read this:

Floro, a former Madrid manager who was appointed by former president Florentino Perez in December to replace Arrigo Sacchi, is considered an increasingly mean-ingless figure at the club and is expected to leave at the end of the season.

His standing is undermined by the fact he was not appointed by current president Fernando Martin, and is unlikely to be backed by any incoming man.

The list of targets in which Gerrard is mentioned forms part of a dossier that was originally presented to Martin earlier this year after which it was effectively dismissed by the president. It is understood Floro's report also suggests moves for Fulham's Luis Boa Morte and England full-back Wayne Bridge.

Martin himself is under increasing pressure with Madrid having won only one of their last eight games. A supporter protest is anticipated at the home game with Malaga this weekend, which fans and club members hope will prompt Martin to call a presidential election, something he is not obliged to do until 2008.

Should that happen, matters would drag on beyond the World Cup and would have implications on any summer transfers and whether preferred choice Sven-Goran Eriksson takes over as coach at the Bernabeu.

Rafael Benitez today reacted to speculation that Real Madrid are keen to sign Steven Gerrard and declared: "He's not for sale."
Madrid football director Benito Floro yesterday admitted he wanted to secure the services of the Liverpool midfielder in time for Madrid's assault on next season's La Liga title.

Gerrard signed a new Anfield deal during the summer after deciding to commit his future to the European champions, but that hasn't dissuaded Madrid from airing their interest in the player.

Rafa would not have made such a direct and bold statment for no reason. Im sure Stevie himself asked Rafa to do so.

However, Benitez isn't at all concerned by the speculation and is adamant his skipper will be a Liverpool player next season.

He said: "The situation is very clear. Steven Gerrard is not for sale."

Steven Gerrard has insisted he has no intention of getting embroiled in another summer of transfer speculation by declaring: "I'm happy and settled at Liverpool."
Real Madrid have this week made public their interest in signing the Anfield skipper as they look to build for the new La Liga campaign.

Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez has insisted his captain his not for sale and the player himself has now reconfirmed his commitment to the club.

"I'm not going to get involved in all that kind of speculation again," he said.

"I'm settled and happy at Liverpool, and I'm not going to go through another summer like the last two.

"I'll be staying here until the day someone tells me they don't want me."

Gerrard, meanwhile, has insisted that victory over Chelsea tomorrow will serve as a warning notice that the Reds are ready to challenge for the Londoners' Premiership crown next season.

"A couple of years ago I was thinking we had to break up the top three of Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester United," he added.

"I definitely feel we've done that now, but maybe we've still got a bit to do to prove that to everyone else.

"If we can beat Chelsea this weekend and then continue to progress in the league next season, I'm sure everyone will be talking about us in the same breath as the others.

"We were in a similar situation to this in 2002. We'd made progress and got close to the leaders, but didn't push on. I definitely feel we're stronger now and in a position to kick on and build even more. I'm sure we're going to take that next step and we'll start getting closer to the league title more regularly.

"But we know going close isn't enough. We want to be winning trophies every season, so there's still a lot of work to be done."

To all the doubters out there, there you go. Now hes come out and said it to end all this nonsene before it got started.

My heart is saying he will not be going anywhere but Stevie was making similar comments last season while he was obviously talking the Chelski. The only difference this season is that he has another 3 seasons remaining on his contract. Which puts the club in a lot stronger position.

If the club was to get 50-60mil for him they could make all the purchases they are after in the summer! Not a situation I want to see but worse case scenario at least Rafa would have a big war chest.

Board me when i heard this one on telly. As if people Think that real are anything they used to be. Fading old stars living of reputation.

Real are boring and a has been team. Never would Gerrard want to go to them. This team can know win without him playing and he knows his beloved Liverpool are on the eve of greatness once again with him and JC leading us on.

Fook off Madrid and go collect ya bus pass home.
