I went for Alonso. My thoughts are..>

Alonso because he showed us he can control our midfield in the absensonce of gerrard and like gerrard he had made some spot on crosses up front for quick thinking and grate ability.

So most improved players for me are Alonso and crouch.

And for most outstanding contribution to the team as a hole is ..>gerrard and carragher.

Gerrard.

Up until the last mionth or so ago, he's been the best player in Britain.

Reina for young player, followed by Sissoko.

Special mentions to Sami, JC, Finnan and Alonso.

We are f*cking BLESSED with talent at LFC.  :nod

we've had a number of players raise their game this season such as gerrard, finnan and hyypia. and a couple of new comers who look like they've been there for years and have had a major effect on our form - crouch, sissoko and reina.

but for my own player of the year i have to go with kewell. maybe he hasn't had as dramatic an impact on so many games as some but considering he was all but written off by a huge proportion of the fanbase at the beginning of the season to hearing his name sung by the kop in recent weeks is fantastic. he's been consistent and dangerous and always looks like he might make something happen, his attitude is spot on and the crazy idea that he's not up for it must be well and truly dispelled by now.

he gets my vote not just for making us a better team when he plays but the way he's proved the doubters wrong exactly where it counts. AND he's going to score on saturday.

My 3 top players
1)Stevie G  - About 20 goals from midfield. Nuff said. The best english midfielder in the world. Lamplard & beckham can't even tie gerrard's shoe laces....

2)Finnan - Has moved on to a new level this season. Excellant defender. Great crosser of the ball. what more do you want from your fullback ? The best right back in the premiership IMO. Gerrard's goal scoring and drive from midfield just pips finnan.

3)Carra - Held the defence together in the earlier part of the season when hyppia was somewhat off-form. Now when hyppia is on-form, Carra is still performing well. Thats Mr consistency for you.

Sadly has to vote 1 only. I think, by far, the team performs much better this year. Credit goes to all of the team, except those few underperformers.

I hardly remember Carra having a bad game, and look at our goals against column.  Stevie is a close second, but to a certain extent I think he's blown hot and cold - at least compared with Carra's consistency.

Carra for me.
Stevie would be second.
Finnan would be third.

So hard to pick one, but.....

1.Stevie G  - Immense. Just simply immense. One of the best players in the world. Truely world class midfielder, and didn't dissappoint this season

2.Finnan - Proved himself to be the most consistant right back in the premiership, consistantly good. Formally liverpools 'unsung hero'... he has now elevated himself to being 'sung'

3.Carra - the rock. showed again this season why he is one of the best centrebacks this country has, and with the current inconsistancies of rio and sol, should be partnering terry at the heart of englands defence.

4. Sissoko - My vote for young player of the year. Come on in leaps and bounds. Midfield general role. I was abit worried about his temperament early in the season as he clocked up the cards and went in for many more rash tackles, but i think then he was trying too hard, and has now really come on to be a midfield rock and will certainly excell next season

5. Reina. With a rock solid back 4 infront of him (traore not included :p  ) he has show what a class keeper he is and definately contributed to our run of clean sheets and our extremely low number of conceded goals

and a quick mention to kewell as most improved player and 'god' as our saviour in scoring some vital goals in the last few games

Its got to be SG. Without his quality and his goals (19 in all comps) we would still be fighting it out with spurs for 4th i reckon. Carra's had another great season as well mind. Last year it was easily Gerrard but as someone said it is harder to chose this year which shows that we are developing into a very good team from what we used to be, a decent team with a world class player.

I voted for Hyppia because despite me not being his biggest fan and often a big critic, he has had huis best season yet for us.

Gerrard obviously has been excellent and probably better overall, but Sammi deserves some acknowledgement.

gerrard for me. i was critical of him last season on several occasions but this season he's upped his game 25% imo. the signs were there from day one and his ability to put the summer shenanigans behind him so quickly was very impressive. at the end of the day he's scored 19 goals which is exceptional for a midfield player.

notable mentions also go to reina, sissoko, finnan, hyypia, kewell and carragher.

amazingly hard this year. I voted for gerrard but i feel that a few of the players deserve credit. Finnan, kewell, carra and sami.

Most improved: Kewell
Most reliable: Finnan
Player of the Year: Gerrard

People on here forget the times this season when Steve Gerrard wasn't on form, and seemed to be 'going through the motions'.  I think he has been outstanding with his goals.

A lot of people on here don't go the match and only see Gerrard bursting the back of the net, they don't see that of a match day, Carra is the one organising and the one who is most vocal.  I think if you don't go the match you miss alot.
