Following up on the threads re our player of the year ,a poll might (if you b'stards vote  :D  ) give us a better indication of our most popular choice .

My vote goes to Hyypia .Despite misgivings about his lack of pace ,he's stepped up his game and along with Carra (my second choice) has been as solid as a rock the entire season  .

For me it has got to be Carragher. He has been consistent throughout the whole season and that is the very reason why we have conceded so little. Gerrard loses out this time after all owing to our substandard goalscoring numbers throughout the whole season. He, i thought, was not as inspirational as a season ago. I guess this is a good sign as we're finally showing that we're not a one man team.

Finnan for me. Horribly underrated, and as solid as a rock for almost two full seasons now. Has definitely been the pick of our defenders this season.

There are many worthy candidates this year.  I'm going to be a bit different and go Reina.  Virtually the same defence, totally different record (clean sheets), than the previous year.  I'm sure I'll be corrected if I'm wrong but isn't he on for the most clean sheets in a year.  Along with Crouch I think he's turned our away form around.

if there was second vote, i'd go for sami, he led the team to a long period (alongside with finnan and carra) of clean sheet and having been the player with the most appearance, his presence also gives us a big difference to the whole team performance and confidence

I voted for Carragher but Hyypia, Reina and, of course, Gerrard could all take it. A couple of seasons ago, there was no contest, so it's good that the choice is harder now.

How can so many disregard Gerrards performances this year. He has been by far the best performer this year and without him we wouldn't be sitting where we are in the league and FA Cup. Carragher and Hyypia deserve due praise BUT they haven't made the same level of impact that Gerrard has. Carragher has been more consistent than Hyypia and he probably is more of a fans favourite. But the vote must show the best player of the year and that IS Gerrard.

i chose Renia, reason being last season we had the same back four and they were a very good defence, this season we have improved and kept so many more clean sheets, some may argue this was down to Momos battling in midfield, but its mainly down to Renia.

His communication with the back four, his shot blocking and most of all his distribution have been excellent.

TBH  it was a choice between entering his name or a vastly improved Kewell . Despite a storming start and some recent sterling performances , sissoko's mid season was i felt unremarkable and littered with indiscipline , you can of course nominate him and vote "another "

Peter Crouch for me, been immense all season, even when he went 17 games without scoring he was still immense & he's had lots of critics and suffered a lot of criticism but has come out and proved everyone wrong and silenced his critics. £7million doesn't seem that bad now does it? :D
