Sneijder flattered by Milan talk

Ajax midfielder Wesley Sneijder admits he is flattered by interest from Serie A giants Milan in his services.

The Holland international is under contract at Amsterdam ArenA until 2010 but the Rossoneri are long-term admirers of the player.

Ajax rejected a request to allow Milan to have first option on Sneijder when a deal was struck in January to send Jaap Stam to the Dutch capital in the summer.

"I'm flattered by this interest," he told Corriere dello Sport.

"Milan are a fantastic club with players of international value, but, until there is something concrete, I can't say more about this.

"I think I'm ready to play in a big club but it's not me who has to decide this.

"Others must do it.

"At this moment, I'm happy at Ajax and I play in a really important and competitive league like the Dutch one."
..........................................................

I know this has nothing to do with Liverpool, but I have mentioned him a number of times as someone who could solve the problem with the right hand side of midfield. I think he is only 21, and in my opinion he is destined to play at one of the big sides in the one of the big leagues, would be cheaper than some of the other options mentioned.

I would have loved Aaron Lennon from spurs as back up on the RW, but i read from ssn that he's just signed a new contract :(

CHL... i was too raving about this player! but i don't think he is a natural winger, he is more of a midfielder. He can play in the wing but plays better as a central. He plays right or left too.

His technique is fantastic and has the ability to shoot from distances! he is only 21, but thank you for bringing this up he could be one hell of a player with liverpool.

Mido's agent has claimed that a couple of premiership clubs have shown real interest in his client. He also stated that these clubs were "bigger" than Spurs. That doesn't leave many clubs of which we are one.

He has proven himself in the Premiership as a good player with a good return of goals. I would take him.

Yet again I hear that we may be going after Craig Bellamy, Darren Bent and Ronaldo. I would not be keen on Bellamy as I think he is a pr*ck and would cause major problems in the changing. Would take the other two though. If we did see these 2 I am pretty certain that would be the end of Morientes and Cisse!

He is a t@sser mate but he's also a top player.
I think he would be a decent signing depending on how much we could get him for.
His 2 goals sat again were fantastic as were his 2 the other week.
He is miles better than Morientes or Cisse and proven in the Premiership.

I wouldn't want him at Anfield. I agree he is probably better than Morientes and Cisse and has a good record in the Premiership but I just think he is a tw@t. I don't think the likes of Stevie G etc would get on with him. We are a close knit unit at the moment and I fear Bellamy would upset that.

He does seem like the kind of player that could cause problems but who's to say he hasnt learnt his lesson ?
He fell out with Souness at Newcastle as did many others, he is a top player that would add a different dimension to our attack.
I've always liked the look of him, but over the last few weeks he seems to have moved up to a different level.
His finishes with his left foot saturday were fantastic and his 2 goals the other week one with either foot were brilliant as well.
He might be more trouble than he's worth, or he might view it as a chance to mix it with some of Europes finest every week.
He cant be anymore of a pain in the @rse than Cisse can he ?

Well said.

Whether he's playing out of his skin recently or not,  I still don't want him here. I don't want any players here that will mess up what seems to be the best team spirit we've had at the club since the eighties.

I'm not arguing whether he's good enough for us due to his on-field abilities, it's his personality that's the issue.

How would he react if Rafa asked him to play out wide for a few games? If he was told he needed to drop into central midfield to plug a gap due to an injury crisis? If Kewell was picked up front instead of him one game? If Gonzales had a shot at goal instead of passing to him?

All I can see is big sulks and threats to leave.

I'm not sure the reputation he has is entirely fair tbh.
I can see he is a bit of a hot head, he plays with passion and is a moaner and gets involved where he shouldnt at times.
Having said all of that (and i can obviously see there's baggage) i dont recall spats with other managers other than Souness really, and at Newcastle the players there were not going to be a good influence, the likes of Bowyer and Dyer are team mates that will bring out the worst in any player.
But he would be a bit of a gamble i accept that.
I am certain that he would be a major hit though.
His first goal saturday was exceptional. I watched it again on SSN and it was really some goal with his weaker foot.
I honestly feel the lad would be fantastic at Liverpool.

Bellamy is without question in the form of his life at the moment and any any judgements on him must be based with this provisio in mind. If we make the assumption that he probably is not capable of playing any better than he is right now and look at the way he handles himself, then perhaps we can assertain what his mood would be under more trying circumstances.
Apparantly he was heard to shout in the tunnel on Saturday "well with defending like that we ain't gonna do feck all". Clearly then the annoying little ponce which resides within his soul is alive and well but is it something to worry too much about? Would the likes of Carra and Gerrard stand for his histrionics or would things be sorted in the old fashioned way, a cruching tackle or two followed by a training ground rumble and a couple of pints afterwards?
I ask the question for purely this reason and this reason alone. Harry Redknapp was correct to describe his opener on Saturday as absolutely World-class. It was. A run from the half-way line onto his left foot followed with a shot hit while running at full tilt, angled accross the keeper which nestled in the very top corner. It was an absolutely fantastic goal and as good a finish as I've seen this season. His second was not far behind. A smart turn and finish from within the confines of the area.
There is absolutely no question in my mind that the lad can really play and that he is maturing fast as a footballer. If he could ever get his head right he could be very special indeed. There is equally little question in my mind that our style of play and personel would suit him absolutely down to the ground, Crouch must be his identikit perfect strike-partner.
One thing is absolutely certain. If he continues to play like he is at the moment and score goals both at the rate and of the quality that is he is right now, he will not see out his career at Blackburn Rovers. Sooner or later somebody will take a chance at around 7-8 million. Somebody is either going to make the biggest mistake of their lives or grab themselves a bargain. Maybe it's because I've always been a punter, but my hunch is the latter. Defoe or Bellamy for 3 or 4 million less? Hmmmmmmm.
