Tickets for FA Cup Semi-Final? - What are my chances?

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby Leonmc0708 » Mon Apr 10, 2006 10:46 am

The tickets are really hard to get hold of.

You just cant get tickets for Anfield.

What chance have I got of getting a ticket.

The same old garbage is spouted all the time. I sat next to a cockney at the match yesterday, the area next to and around my season ticket seat is often reserved for the TV cameras, so no live game means different people sitting by me all the time. The guy said to me that he can never get tickets cus its really hard to get them.

Bollo.cks. I end up with at least a couple of spare tickets for most games home and away, and I dont work that hard to get them. You have to make a few calls and spend some time on-line, but other than that, not too difficult.

People just think its too hard and do not bother.

That said, to say to a fella who asks whether he has any chance of getting a ticket, No and whatsmore I hope you don't get one either seems a little silly to me.
While I think it's reasonable, correct and laudible for the club to operate a priortity system for loyal and local fans, there are other ways of getting tickets to any oversubscribed event, be it of a sporting nature or the theatre or whatever. I talk of course of the tout, and before anybody jumps on their high horse about touts being the scum of the Earth (which they ususally are in my experience anyway) and of them denying "real" fans access to tickets, it is in my opinion the legitimate method of the occasional and less worthy supporter of obtaining a ticket. It's the price you pay, don't go regularly and you'll have to cough up three or four times the face value at least, to get in.
To those local and regular matchgoers who believe that this practice denies them access to maybe 500 or so extra tickets I would point out that in the majority of cases these tickets wouldn't be on general sale anyway (ie they come from the players and staff) and would also ask what other method somebody not from the local area is supposed to use.
Failing that, I suggest those who aren't from Liverpool are simply not allowed in and we operate a kind of accent apartate. As a concession, could us non-scousers possibly request that we are allowed to attend reserve or Youth Cup games instead? Maybe that's the problem, we simply don't know our place.

Once again a brilliantly thought out post by bigmick. As he stated I was only giving my opinion and DID NOT resort to name calling. Im sorry if I offended but I would not want a fan who goes regularly to miss out on a ticket. A lot of fans here have taken offence saying they come from asia, candada, and of course I would never object to them going to games as I want fans to come from all over the world to watch the red men.

My argument was that it would be unfair for someone to get a ticket, who could of got tickets for other games, but didn't . I stand by my opinion and I hope people can respect this as I respect their views on different subjects but don't call them every name under the sun.

The original poster I am sorry if I offended but its something I feel strognly about. Now can we stop this silly name calling as it is very deterimental to the forum as a whole. I respect your views, please can you respect mine.

Rafa Dodd mate, make no apologies whatsoever for stating the fuc.king obvious mate.

The people who vilified you on here for that post probably:

1) Dont go the game
2) Live in another country
3) all of the above

Too fuc.king right people who go the games should get priority for latter stages of the competition. The club agrees, thats why they introduced the fan card system.

I hope any glory hunter who suddenly wants a ticket for the Semi cus they have a fu.cking free afternoon on that day does not get one as well.

Leon you echo my sentiments exactly, we would not deny people going to games, just as long as they dont only go for the "glory" games. Ive sat next to many irish and cockney lads and have had a laugh with them dont have a problem with people from anywhere.

Bigmick I think your a cracking poster on this site, and if you ever wanted a ticket would happily arrange one for you. (And not a reserve one)

as the person who basically started this --let me state that i understand the argument that those who sit thru the early stages and/or are season ticket holders should get first dibs, and yes people who "just want to see pool v chelski" may not be proper BUT what if i was in manchester on business when the game was on -- it would be a dream to see that match up

remember us in the colonies -- we do put up with alot why??

well i paid ~ 400 to see pool v porto --up had to buy 2 tickets @ $140 hotels gas and of course some beer-- paid for friends ticket so i had someone to go with

games - oh yeah 7:30 saturday is fun, skiving ioff work to watch games is fun as the weekday games are on at 3 and the good ones never seem to be repeated or are at midnight or after-- woops check my sattelite bill oi fa cup games are 15 each but i'm happy to see them -- i'm better off than my buudy whose a spurs fan -- its a holiday when they are televised

would i go see a reserve game or an early round fa -- hell ya and guess what i would be happy

please accept my apologies if i was rude

Simple, answer these questions:

1) How often do you go to the game ?
2) Where do you live ?
3) Did you answer yes to (1) OR (2) ?

That doesnt have anything to do with it, and doesnt bother me in the slightest.

The point which does was his rude remark towards another Liverpool supporter.

And all these have a go rebels who have a chip on there shoulder with a person who's not from Liverpool.

Clearly you are No 3 then.

But back to your point, how on earth is to be brutally honest though I wouldn't want you to get a ticket.  Loyal fans deserve to go the game, you haven't even got a fan card , thats pathetic. But thats only my view, and were entitled to our views supposed to be a rude remark?

He simply states that someone who does not have a fan card (the simple requirement to buy tickets through the official channels for Liverpool games) is not as deserving a case as someone who has built up loyalty on a fan card by attending previous games in the competition.

Well thats charming that is isnt it ?

"Loyal fans deserve to go to the game"

So because us internet freaks dont reside in Liverpool we are not classed as loyal supporters and do not deserve to go to a game ?

Leon let me ask you something, the cockney that sat beside you the other day, was he not worthy of supporting your great club because he had a different accent and because he doesnt get to all the games ?

Leon has just explained it, no rude remarks a simple explanation, what dont you get?

"thats pathetic"  if this is what you are referring to its a statement about not having a FAN CARD, an essential product needed to buy tickets.

MAte he deserved to be at that game as much as the next man, as he got a ticket.

Someone who has not been to a game al lseason then pipes up expecting a semi final ticket "cus he has the afternoon off" does not.

dont try the OOT debate with me mate, been there done that got a big fu.ck off T-Shirt reading "I hate jester hat wearing OOT's - but wools will never hurt me.

You jumped on Rafa Dodds back because he echoed the policy of the football clubs own ticket office in reference to the thread starter.

Fu.ck off with the super most deserving fan routine. Thats not the point mate.

Mate i cant see the problem with what the lads are saying.
It seems to me like some people are wanting to turn this into an ooters debate, when it shouldnt be, i actually feel that the club gives ooters special treatment...there are supporters clubs from all over the country and Ireland that get guaranteed tickets for every game when there are people in and around the city who struggle to get tickets.
That doesnt bother me, we are all Liverpool supporters at the end of the day, and the right to seats at the match isn't a scouse accent.
But for the semi final (our biggest game of the season) the fans that went to previous rounds will get priority and rightfully so, whether they are Cockneys or Scousers.
If someone hasnt got a fancard then its right that they should be last in the queue for a game of this magnitude.

Fu.ck off trying to be the most controversal fan, thats definately not the point mate.
