Momo's injury - Serious apparently

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

F*cking hell fire.
Momo Sissoko may never play again due to a freak accident, and everyones arguing like little school-yard b*tches.

There's a time and a place for b*tch-fests, and this ain't one of them.
Good luck Momo - your a brave lad, and you'll get through this. Just keep your chin up and follow whatever advice the doctors give you.

Our most talented player?

You are not serious? ???

please forgive me for my ignorance, but how is the medical care in lisbon?? i realize its a modern city but it isn't new york or london-- in all of these injuries fast efficient care is paramount -- just hope they can stabalise him and get him home

He already went home this afternoon, according to the same new.
I think that our medical care is just as good as any developed country, and CUF is indeed a very good hospital (not a public one). But this is just their 'prognostic' (sp.?), maybe other doctors will have a a brighter view for him...but these are real doctors. I don't think they fail for 40/50%...

I think that we all should be thinking in Momo firstly as a person that might get partial blind..I hope he can recover the most of it for his life. Then we'll think in his career, a very promissing one. Let's hope for the best and wish that in a couple of months he'll be wearing one of those stylish glasses on the pitch.

This is really touching, I mean, this could happen to anyone playing football with their friends...

I've been searching news related to him, and I found two saying that the final prognostic will be given in England where he'll see some specialists. The first I mentioned is the most recent one though...

I guess we'll have to wait.

The Telegraph is reporting this... Liverpool fear for Sissoko's eyesight

Not meaning to have a bitch at people per se Lando -  just frustrated with rumour and inuendo! The internet and these forums is the only source of info for many fans around the world and I for one would appreciate people taking the time to post a link - that's all.

This a serious matter and justifies the need for posts to be easily judged as inscrutable IMO.

Well, I was just seeing tomorrow's football newspaper and it has some things said by the doctors who saw him. I'll try to translate the better I can. Today's morning he made exams and he was already a little better, he now can see a little. Yesterday he arrived almost insconscient and he couldn't see anything with his right eye. On losing partial sight/view, he says that is not safe to give already a final diagnostic but it was good that he was taken to the hospital for treatment really quick and he's still very young so he has bigger chances of recovering. The next 48/72 hours will be decisive to his clinical evolution and his recovery will take months no matter the damage. Next week we'll know for sure what will happen to his vision. It was a closed contusion without any structure damage. However, his eye function was damaged.

I'm not sure that you like to have this kind of information, since it's not very clear yet and I understand that this can make a person even more nervous but I think that this is a more optmistic view and decided to post it.

there are reports all over the press this morning talking about momo's injury - too many to make it worth linking to them all. the claims range from 'a long recovery then full sight regained' to 'a long recovery, 20% sight at best, career over'. the common factor is that it will be a long recovery and we won't be seeing him again this season. in pure footballing terms its not a disaster as we're blessed with strength in midfield and didi is in great form when he plays, we have less chance of resting anyone but i think we'll cope.

on personal terms, and for the longer term future of the squad, its terrible. as was recently discussed in bigmicks thread in momo we either have a gem already or a definite contender to become one sooner rather than later. he was an absolute bargain and is a firm favourite with the fans already, a newcomer who just immediately looks like a liverpool player.

if this really is the end of his career, and we have to remember that even if he gets 80% of his sight back he won't be able to play at a high level, its an absolute tradgey for him personally, for a promising career and for our club. the top class medical facilities at his disposal are the only glimmer of light at the moment in my pessimistic view but i can only hope against hope that he makes a full and speedy recovery.

Apparently his sight could be anything from 20% to 80% .... so from the sounds of it he will never have 100% vision.

we feel for you momo..... prove 'em wrong... go on son.... make a full recovery.

SSN have said that a doctor treating him reckons he COULD lose 20 - 80 % of his vision in that eye.
