Just wondering - Luis garcia or steve mcmanmman

Macca was an enigma. Even more so that Garcia, if you ask me.

They both have/had the ability for the extraordinary, but I'd say Garcia goes for the spectacular a lot more than Stevie Mac ever did.

Neither could tackle, Luis definately possesses the better shot, and is 1000 times better at heading (despite being shorter!).

Macca was a supreme dribbler, and could run quicker with the ball than without it.
He could run all day, and said on an LFC season-review video (1996-'97) that he was like Shergar!!!!!

It helped Macca that he had awesome strikers in the team (Fowler, Rush, Collymore, Owen, Reidle, etc) to pass to/set up.

I'd say that overall Macca was the most valuable player, but Garcia can turn any game at any point.

I don't think Stevie could have scored THAT goal against Juventus!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I didn't see more than 7 complete games (dark times in which was difficult to grab a Liverpool game here, before the digital era) of Mcmanaman in England before he came to Real Madrid, so I'll compare the McManaman of Real Madrid to the Luis Garcia of Liverpool era.

mcmanaman had great dribbling ability. could dribble as quick with the ball than he could without.
dunno who the better player was though. hard choice seeing as macca was one of my favourite players.

Macca was a good player, he had a decent dribbling yes, but not excellent. He actually dribbled the same 2 ways always, effectively, but he hadn't an unpredictible dribbling a la Joaquin neither. Fairly good in dribbling.
He's better than LG in discipline, he lost very few balls, but then his passes were not risky, and not goal assists neither. I didn't like his acceleration, it took him more time to get his top speed. But he was a player that made many runs a game, and Real Madrid appreciated that. Decent player, not the very best of england, but in Madrid they don't have time for bad players, and he earnt first team football.

But I preffer Luis Garcia, he has more flair, better finishing, and is very interesting to open very thick games. Luis Garcia is a rare player, and we're lucky to have him

It's a difficult one cause they r both good players, but they neva played in the same squad
I think Garcia is beta, but Macca is/was still quality, especially playing for the mighty Reds

Tough question!

I would have to say sentimentally, Macca, he had grace and flair, out and out winger, scouse, but shafted us!

Garcia is different, he is a trickster, he isn't your conventional winger. He cuts in, and always plays behind the strikers.

They are both different players, and even though they start the game on the wing, they are used quite differently. Garcia is not an out and out winger, and by saying that, I'd have both on my team!

McManaman by a country mile. One of the best creative players in the country at the time. His ability to beat defenders consistently was second to none. Had good vision and was technically very good.

We basically used to play through him, give him the ball, he'd skin three players and put one on a plate for Fowler.

However he was inconsistent and during the latter part of his Liverpool career seemed reluctant to carry the ball as he once did.

Definately though one of the most exciting players i've ever seen even if he wasn't always productive.

You cant compare these two players . They are in different class. One in 1st class ( Macca ) and the other one not even in the 2nd class ( Luis "lose ball" Garcia )

Macca all the way. He was absolutely top drawer for several seasons. Madrid didn't get half the player we saw in his prime. Luis is so different and as a few have pointed out, is capable of breath-taking skill so maybe in a few seasons we can be claiming he is the better player.

Macca was great but man he couldnt shoot to save himself. Garcia is a bit hot and cold, either sheer class or pretty bad.
