I know his form wasn't great earlier in the season, but I'd like to see Riise get a good run in the side. Defensively he's a bit limited, but he has great instincts for building attacks from the back, and I'm sure he'd be good for a few goals. The point's been made several times that there aren't enough goals in our side outside the front two, and seeing as though we have a player who has proved willing to get forward and hammer a few in, it seems weird that he's not getting more matches.
And if Finnan does start getting his act together, would there be mileage in trying Riise on the left side of midfield? In a 4-3-3 with Harry floating behind the front two, I think he could really do some damage. Particularly in his first season, he looked to me more like a left-sided midfielder being played as a wing-back than the other way around, so I don't even think it'd be a case of playing him out of position.
