Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

sissoko needs to calm down on those challenges....if this was a Premiership match he'd of been sent off

4-3 not bad.
it shows a lot about our team in general really.
we scored 4 which shows we have enough quality in the striker department.
however.....3 conceded due to poor inexperienced defending. this is why we need to buy a top quality centre back!

carson- o.k, maybe should have done better with the second goal.
medjani- poor, what is this guys best position? centre or right back? i say neither!
hyypia- a bit poor, was all over the place at times.
josemi- poor, didn't look like he knew what he was doing at times!
whitbread- poor, gave away an uneccessary penalty.
warnock- good, i rate this fellow. i think he should play instead of djimi. great assist.
carra- o.k, did good at first, then got a bit sloppy near the end.
zenden- o.k, gave the ball away a bit to often for my liking. good link up play with warnock though.
gerrard-average, didn't do much at all for me.
hamman-average, didn't do much either!
potter-average, didn't do much wrong. nor right either!
le tallec- poor, gave the away the ball to much.
sissoko- good, he was keen to win every ball. good passing. however needs to take it easy with the tackling!
alonso- CLASS, changed the game for me IMO, his passing was yet again astounding. my MOTM.
riise-o.k, good link up play with garcia...but usually led to nothing.
garcia- o.k, scored a good goal. however gave ball way to much and should have scored before hand.
cisse-average, he had no decent service...therefore no chances to score.
nando-good, scored a well taken goal. a few good touches. needs to stop trying to take on people....he has no PACE!
crouch-o.k, he didn't really get decent service either, although was involved in the first goal.
baros-good, made brilliant runs and two good finishes.HOWEVER...needs to look up when dribbling the ball to look for easier options!

We should have score more goals. Baros had prove his value and his challenge on everybody up front. Good Job Baros and i would like to see him this coming season in our starting XI. :)

The game raised a few questions, like...
1) Why does Baros do that 'headless chicken' thing when he can do so much more?
2) Did Sissoko get away with that sort of tackling last season in France?
3) Whatever happened to defending (both teams seem to have forgotten)?
4) Why is that the hairstyle of Xabi Alonso's choice?
5) Why did only 2,500 people from Liechtenstein turn up to watch the European champions?  (There were loads of empty seats.)
6) What is Zenden good at?

???

Please don't think I'm being needlessly negative.  Let's face it, in pre-season we've won every game so far.

1. its just the way he runs he can't help it!
2. sissoko played in spain last season, don't know how he got away with challenges he was putting in tonight in la liga. usually a little nudge is enough to get a yellow in la liga!
3. the attacking forces of both sides were just awesome!
4.? ?????
5. only 2,500 people live in liechtenstein!!!!!!!!!!
6. he is good at crossing and taking the ball past defenders....give him time...be patient!

i think that answers all your questions apart from the forth question, which i have no idea what your actually asking me!!!

So far i have watched sissoko play at our team,he really commit himself at midfield. But one thing for sure,he can rise the red card ratio for us due to his hard core tackles and ill-tempered attitude.

Vieira never gone,he just revive at here... This is Anfield.

1. Baros didn't do that today and what more do you want him to do he scored 2 and assisted 1.
2. Sissoko was playing in spain last season for valencia
3. Josemi came inside too much and riise was overlapping garcia and neither garcia or riise were getting back.
4. I don't know ask xabi himself
5. Do you know what the time was there?
6. Zenden is good at playing football thats why he is a footballer durrr. He can cross, skin defenders, run and shoot.

Baros Headless chicken? you wearing stevie wonder's glasses today?

Baros showed the world class speed and quality, as to why we should not sell him! did you see the contrast of Crouch and Baros in both halfs.

Crouch disapointed me actually, considering he was played by rafa why was there only about 1 cross in the air into the box first half?

I was impresed by:

Josemi...some crunching tackles in there, solid defender
Sissoko....Quick quick on the ball, intelligent and crunching tackler like Josemi.
Baros....Speed and class showing in abundance and 2 goals.
Morientes....Class finish from the Baros pass.
Warnock......Played very well.
Alonso...competant performance, but got nutmegged by Rivaldo.

others average overall.

Thought Carson in goal was pretty awful actually, and think he has played his last game for a while.
1. made a silly blunder first half, came out and never raised his arms, ball nearly went in.
2. moved like a snail for the penalty, dudek would have saved.
3. got rounded softly for 3rd olypiacos goal. should have stayed on his feet longer and made a more convincing dive. he looked like he was inspecting the strikers shoes for a polish!

i am very excited at the prospect that the new season holds and here is why>>
Rafa - taticle genius

Baros - looked really sharp and it would be a mistake to sell him, i think rafa is making work for his place to get the best out of him!

Morientes - looking more impressive

Stephen warnock - rapidly maturing into a very good player, lots of potential, worked the wing well with zenden

Zenden - bargin signing! he has put in some good crosses and well be a valuable left winger.

Sisoko - this lad looks very impressive, needs to watch the tackles though.

Cisse - runs like the eurostar

Alonso - without a doubt the best passer in the world, pinpoint passing.

and of course the rest of a our redman who continue to impress.

We have scored 17 goals in five games!!! hope this keeps up and sets a trend!!
Bring on the new season, i wait with excited anticipation!!!

Crouch dissapointed me actually too. Players such as josemi always just hoofed it up to him and thats no good.

I don't need any ratings on the team. I only know that Baros is the man of the match.

1) That's my point.  He can do so much more, but he didn't last season.  I agree he played well tonight.
2) Sissoko will have to calm down in non-friendly games.
3) I think both team defended badly.  You could have let cattle graze in those open spaces.
4) Just kidding Xabi, but you do need a pair of clippers taking to that mop.
5) I'd guess it was about the same time that many European games are played.  They tend to play later than in England except in cold climates.  It's also Saturday night.
6) Zenden couldn't cross or skin defenders tonight, and I don't remember him shooting. The thread is about tonight's game.
