I sent an email to Channel 5 asking WHY! they continue to use John 'wooden' Barnes as their frontman, here is their reply:

Thank you for your recent e-mail regarding the football commentator John
Barnes.

We were sorry to read your comments about the presenter. However, we
feel that there will never be a perfect football commentator. One
advantage of the increase in the number of television channels providing
sports coverage is that many different styles of commentary can be
accommodated. We have noted your remarks concerning John Barnes. Whilst
we acknowledge that John has his own distinctive style of presentation
it should also be added that this has gained him a strong following
amongst our viewers. The calls and correspondence received in this
department are testament to this.

We have logged your comments in the Viewer Enquiries Report, which is
circulated throughout the company. Also, your complaint will be noted
in the quarterly report to our regulator. Commercial television is
regulated in the UK by Ofcom (the Office of Communications).

He is easily the worst presenter ever 'wooden' doesn't even come close

C'mon!!! John Barnes is great!! I love his presentation style!!

Be to be fair, he has come on leaps and bounds since he first started doing it!

I think they must have started to sedate him, because he's speaking alot slower these days!!!

No problem with your critical comments abut John Barnes's presentation ,but I prefer you kept it personal rather than gloat on the forum....My respect lies with Barnesy for trying not with 7_Kewell for crying!

ive never worked out these people who complain about things on tv. just turn over if u dont like...
but barnesey aint that bad. what if it was mcclair presenting or tony adams?

now that would be truly horrific

no, i hope they will do something to IMPROVE his 'skills'! I have nothing but respect for John Barnes as a player, but I find it painfull to watch a Liverpool legend humiliate himself infront of millions of people.
