Midfielders - We have to many of them?

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

This summer we signed Zenden, Gonzales. Figo and Sisoko are about to sign and don't forget Gerard, Garcia, Alonso, Nunez, Haman,Reise, Welsh and other youngsters!!
We have 10-11 classy midfielders and I just can't see how Rafa is going to fit them all up in his squad, the best way to do that is to play 4-5-1 but then we have another problem, we have 3 world class strikers(the third one is Baros, Kuyt, Crouch) and Rafa can't sit 2 of them on the bench so Rafa would have to play 4-4-2 and then the problem with the midfielders is coming up again(not that it was solved with the 4-5-1)!!
I dont realy see why are we spending money for midfielders when we can buy players for other positions!!
I realy dont envy Rafa when he will choose the starting lineup!!  :bowdown

it's gonna be a long hard campaign and looking at the signing rafa is pretty serious about the premiership. i am only worried that with so many new players come in, their intergration will be a problem.

thats what rafa set out to do this summer though, strengthen the squad. after seeing that the problem in the premiership last season was our lack of options rafa has brought in a lot of players to make us stronger. now we will have other players ready to come into the team when needed

Gonzalez winger
Luis Garcia winger attack midfielder
Kewell winger
Riise left back or winger

Gerrard central
Xabi Alonso central
sissoko central attacking
Hammancentral
Zenden central or left wing

Nunez        backup
Biscan        gone on a free transferl
Diao           will be sold

to be honest, our midfield isn't THAT big. I say it is fine and will be ideal for rotation for our domestic and European campaign.....anyone remember how streched we got last season, hence we had to call in Smicer, Diao and Biscan?

Biscan is gone, Diao will soon follow, so there's not a huge change in numbers...probably just one or two extra. Riise will probably revert to left back and the likes of Zenden and Gonzalez are likely to be rotated heavily.

I wouldn't rule out Nunez returning to Spain.

We ain't got that many. A lot of the players are versatile, as Kewell_7 said. Kewell, Garcia, Sissoko and Gonsales can all play upfront aswell as on the wings. Sissy is obviously a CM by trade, though!

Its because the season could be 70 games long, plus the injury factor.
