If we're paying 6-8 million that that would suggest Reina is of a similar level to Cech.  I'll believe that only when I see it, there hasnt been a keeper to match the Chelsea man in Europe this season.

But by that logic, Drogba should have been the best striker in England!!!!!!! :D  :p

This is the same man who has stopped 6 of 8 penalties this season. ( I think may be an even better stat).  You could argue that stats are often twisted and he could have been aided by some poor shots, but this is still an amazing statistic.  So imo the only stumbling block for Reina is to learn english and communicate to the back four.

I watch a decent amount of spanish football on espn and Reina is definately one of the better keepers in the league.  Definately behind Casillas but I would rank him ahead of Canizares and Mollina.  He's not in the same class as Cech, Buffon, Casillas etc. but I'd say hes probably on the next tier down.  But to be perfectly honest even though he's only young I doubt whether he will become as good as the 3 mentioned before but he'd still be a major improvement on Dudek and I think he'd probably be the second best keeper in the premiership behind Cech

good point kopite but i guess we managed to get hold of him before others teams like Chelski to and spend like 40 millions for his services.

I'm very happy with our 6 millions deal.

th best defensive record in Spain and saved 7 out of his 9 penalties! That'll do for me. What's the other option, clap happy Dudek or sick not Kirkland!

Just now i was watching today's training session on LFC e-season ticket section. Jose Reina seems to be well built and quite tall compared to Dudek. He seems to have great reflexes as well.

I dont even think we needed a new keeper, and could have saved 8m pounds. Dudek is a very good International goalkeeper, a good shot stopper, and we all know about penalty saves!

Ok he makes the odd mistake, but thats the disadvantage of being Human! Dont tell me this Reina isn't going to make a few calamity mistakes over the course of a season.

What if he makes a loada blunders, are you guys gonna say flog him?

Every keeper makes the odd mistake, but Dudek doesn't make that many. Ok the one V Utd was bad, but he's a good keeper in my book.

If a keeper conceeds a fair bit, then a lot has to do with the defence.
Im more concerned about outfield players.
