Du The Dudek Heading For The Charts

A song written and recorded by ‘The Trophy Boyz’, a group of Liverpool fans, commemorates the performance of goalkeeper Jerzy Dudek in the Champions League Final – and could soar up the British pop charts this summer.
‘Du The Dudek’ is a light-hearted tribute to Dudek, who emerged as the Reds’ hero in Istanbul last month with a string of saves, including some crucial stops in the dramatic penalty shoot-out.

Liverpool’s official website, www.liverpoolfc.tv, reports that co-writer and lifelong Red Adrian Zag is hoping fellow fans can help it become a summer smash hit and in the process keep Liverpool’s remarkable triumph over AC Milan fresh in everyone’s mind.

"It’s not a serious song, it’s a bit of fun," the website quotes Zag as saying. "It’s meant to get people dancing around their barbies during the summer. It’s a madcap, crazy, rollercoaster tune to commemorate a crazy, rollercoaster match.

"For what it is, I think it’s a cracking football song and the idea is to have it released as a single. We want to make this a big hit, to keep Liverpool’s triumph fresh in the mind for as long as we can.

"If every Liverpool fan - or even one in 10 Liverpool fans - downloads the track it will go into the charts on downloads alone.

"The song is unlikely to replace You’ll Never Walk Alone as the Liverpool anthem but I hope it replaces that bloody frog at the top of the charts!"
