Trouble mars Juve-Liverpool match
Juventus and Liverpool fans threw missiles at each other in the build-up to the Champions League quarter-final second leg at Stadio Delle Alpi.
Much work had been done in the days before the game to promote friendship between the two sets of supporters, 20 years after the Heysel disaster.
But 50 Juventus fans clashed with police shortly before the game, which finished 0-0 as Liverpool went through.
Fans pelted 100 police officers with missiles and a police car was burned.
In 1985 Liverpool played Juventus at Heysel in the European Cup final and 39 people were killed when they tried to escape violence only for a wall in the crumbling stadium to collapse.
One week ago the first leg of this tie - the first time the teams had met since Heysel - passed off peacefully even though some Juve supporters turned their backs on a Liverpool apology.
But on Wednesday, police arrested eight Juventus fans for violence and possession of arms after a Liverpool supporter was hit on the head with a bat at a Turin bar.
Tempers also flared at a hotel when Juventus fans arrived, reportedly carrying bottles and a stick.
Words were exchanged, but no fighting occurred and the Juventus fans ran from the scene when the police arrived.
Uefa to act on Milan violence
More than 900 officers were at the Stadio Delle Alpi in the wake of Tuesday's fan trouble, which caused the AC Milan v Inter Milan quarter-final to be abandoned.
Police were confident of dealing with any trouble, but Liverpool fans were advised not to wear their club colours and to stay in designated areas.
The sale of alcohol was banned for a 48-hour period before the game.
