The team will need to a battling one as the game will be won in midfield, I can see it being scrappy but we should win 2-1 :)

Weve just got to go for a win end of story, no one upfront BS, Baros and Morientes, run there defence ragged, from now on Rafa has just got to put a winning team out home and away. No more defensive malarcy away from home its obvious now we cant play like that, I am hoping to be a very very happy person come 6 o clock on sunday evening, being 2 points behind the BS.
But the point is we shouldnt be playing catch up to such a sh#t team anyway.

If you are reffering to the 4-5-1 formation then I disagree, we can play any formation with the right players. The 4-5-1 formation works best when Alonso plays when he doesn't most times it does not work because Gerrard and Biscan don't play well together.

I can't remember the last time Nando played, anyway I think we'll pound them 3 - 1 because all of our players will be rested since we didn't play at the weekend and the likes of Nando and...and hmmm.. only Nando will be ready for this one.

Liverpool striker Fernando Morientes has recovered from the groin strain that forced him out of the recent 1-0 defeat at Newcastle Utd in time for Wednesday’s Premiership clash against Blackburn Rovers.

With the Merseyside derby this weekend, it’s an ideal time for Rafael Benitez’s side to close the gap and with victory over Blackburn tomorrow the gap between the fifth placed Reds and fourth placed Blues could be narrowed to just five points.

Though Benitez confirmed Morientes will be able to play tomorrow, he also told the press that Australian midfielder Harry Kewell won’t be expected back until April.

He said, "Morientes had a tight groin but it wasn't too serious. He's been training okay and he'll be fit for the next match.

"Harry Kewell is still unavailable, but I hope he'll be available in two or three weeks."

SEASON OVER FOR 'RESTING' KEWELL

By David Maddock

HARRY Kewell's season is effectively over after manager Rafa Benitez finally bowed to the player's demand to rest.

The Liverpool winger has been at loggerheads with his Spanish coach over injury problems which have seen him start just twice in the past three months.

Benitez was furious after the Aussie ignored his pleas to throw off ankle and groin niggles and play in the Champions League tie away at Bayer Leverkusen last week.

Now, after a visit to top German sports injury expert, Dr Hans Muller-Wohlfahrt, Benitez has agreed to let the player have a total rest cure for the next three to four weeks.

The Spanish boss said: "Harry Kewell is still unavailable, but I hope he'll be available in maybe three weeks."

That rules the winger out for the rest of the season as he will have little time to get match fit when he returns.

Benitez's frustration with Kewell will lead to him seeking a replacement in the summer with the likely prospect of a further bid for Shaun Wright-Phillips, a player he came close to landing at the start of the season.

The enforced absence leaves Kewell in a difficult situation as John Arne Riise has proven his ability on the left of midfield, and Luis Garcia is now beginning to settle in the Premiership and show his worth on the opposite flank, or as a deep-lying striker.

Benitez at least had some good news yesterday when Xabi Alonso revealed that he is ahead of schedule in his comeback from a broken ankle and could play in the Champions League quarter-final second leg, scheduled for April 13-14.

Benitez said: "Xabi is improving a lot.

"If he's back training with the rest of the squad by the end of the month, like we hope, he has a good chance."

I think Warnock should be picked ahead of Traore every game.  He was brilliant against Bayer and a run in the team will only help to improve his consistancy.  Traore is not playing coz he is injured, do you think he will get his place back?
Our job is simple, to support the club, not just parts of the club that are easy to support, but every one who plays a part, that includes ALL players.  We are stronger when we are all walking in the same direction. Walk On

so, anyone else favour another formation and starting lineup?
I would choose:
----------Dudek--------------
Finnan-Carra-Hyypia--Warnock
Garcia----Hamann------Riise
----------Gerrard-------------
-------Baros-Morientes--------
Bench: Carson, Traore, Biscan, Nunez, Pellegrino

We need to be more offensive and not field another rather defensive lineup against Newcastle the other day. It is a home game against a somewhat struggling side and we must treasure and pounce on this very opportunity to move a step closer to 4th place.

I think Rafa will choose:
----------Dudek------------
Finnan-Carra-Hyypia-Warnock
---------Hamann------------
Garcia-Biscan-Gerrard-Riise--
---------Morientes----------
Subs: Carson, Baros, Traore, Nunez, Pellegrino

blackburn won't make it easy for us by any stretch of the imagination. they showed their battling qualities at everton the other week (even though everton were shocking).

they'll probably play one upfront and pack the midfield. we'll have a lot of possession and it'll be up to us to break them down. i'm going for a 2-0 win with morientes and baros on the scoresheet.

just hope we get no frigging injuries.

yep, playing blackburns bone breakers will be a little nerve wracking...

i'd love to see warnock getting a start and see if he can reproduce the form from the CL game. morientes to score 2 in a 2-1 win.

will we beat blackburn? i think yes, what about you? :D

Smicer isn't good enough, we've given him loads of chances over the years and yet I can only remember about 5 decent performances in his Anfield career. I would be very surprised (and disappointed) if he's still here next season

I think this game will be a hard one. Blackburn have been playing better and better since Souness left.

Why Blackburn will be hard to beat

1. They have a strong defence and have only conceded 7 goals in their last 14 games
2. They have a hard working midfield
3. They have good wingers with flair and pace
4. Dickov is the kind of player Hyypia can't control

Why we will win

1. We have been solid at home
2. We have to win if we aim for CL qualification
3. Several players are fighting for new contracts, and must impress
If football is banned in heaven. I'd rather go to hell.
