I think there will be a positive reaction to last night result, Rafa comes with a great reputation now is the time to deliver. The senior pro's ( Gerrard, Hamman, Carra, Morienties etc) also have a role to play in this rebuilding of the clbs confidence.

I am really getting tired of this "If we don't play well etc.. Stevie will go". If Gerrard wants to go let him go.

You win as a team and you lose as a team, this is not Steven Gerrard FC. In every important fixture he has been poor. He scored a cracker against Olympiacos but his performance was nothing special by his standards, in fact he made a crucial challenged which got him booked and now he can't play in the next CL fixture yet he talks about how he wants to play in Champions League.

Before the game against Man Utd he said that we would have to play well yet he couldn't play well himself against them. Nobody wants him to carry the team, as a captain he has to get his team mates involved and not look for the perfect finish and win the game by himself. When a simple pass would do, he goes for the extra special manuever. He's a good footballer no doubt about it but he's so frustrating in big fixtures.

Anyways, this is what the starting 11 will probably look like.

                      Dudek
Finnan      Carragher     Hyypia      Traore

Garcia      Gerrard        Hamann     Riise

               Morientes     Baros

Since Garcia is not a winger, I would play Finnan as a winger instead, move Carragher to the RB position and play Pellegrino.  The reason I would do this is to get a player on the flank who can deliever crosses to Nando in the box. Without Nunez we can't really do that and Garcia is not desciplined enough to play as a winger.

Southampton away is traditionally a very difficult game for us and we have a wretched record down there. It'll be a battle and although we are miles better on paper and they are in a bad way at the moment, I don't expect an easy game and a defeat cannot be ruled out.

In your "Take out the Garbage" thread (jan 18th) you say "he's not good enough for lfc " and you then go on to call him a "muppet" . If this is your honest opinion why have you picked Traore to play against Southampton .

If Liverpool show half the passion and determination to win as Burnley did, then we will win comfortably.

But, can Benitez motivate the team, so all the players will give 100%?

I think we need some team building exercises, take them on a paint balling day out!!!!!   :D  :D  :D

I actually think that warnock and riise make a better combination and if AB thinks Traore is such a muppet why not go for that combo ?

Hopefully Garcia & Riise have been practicing crossing the ball during the training sessions.

On Saturday, Morientes was starved of any decent service.  He happens to be one of the most prolific goalscorers with his head, on a power with Shearer.  Why not use the full width, and length, of the pitch, and put the ball on his head.  And then, if Baros can remember he's a striker, and get in the 6 yard box to follow up.....

Is Nunez suspended? Thought it was for the competition you were sent off in. Then that cant be right, can it? he would have to wait until next season.

I am becoming so paranoid I cant see us winning in those yellow shirts. How many times have we won in them? Not many I think.

Hopefully there will be a reaction to Tuesday night, and this will be a top performance.

Despite the fact that I don't think he's good enough, Benitez is patient and will probably will use Traore anyways. i.e. Kewell was poor from the start of this season but Benitez kept on starting him and eventually Kewell started playing better, too bad he's injured as he looked that he was slowly regaining his old form.

Im very doubtful for this game against the saints :Oo: . They will go bottom if we beat them, and we have a terrible record against them they are another bogey team of ours :glare:

I fancy us strong. They are absolutely terrible, probably the worst side in the division and Phillips is injured I think. Even a draw would be a desperate result in my view.
