if it was your decision to choose the manager to replace houllier,who would you have gone for? and if the man you picked wasn't rafa, do you think he would have done a better job. if so name him and why!!

Well, initially when the job became availbale I wanted Jose Mourinho.

He had done such a great job at Porto with predominantly portuguese players and broght them up to the best in Europe, this the man I wanted at Anfield.

Then when he went to Chelsea, I thought Rafa Benitez was also a great acquisition on a similar level to Mourinho as he had turned Valencia into the best team in Spain and on of the best in Europe with smaller budgets than Real Madrid and Barca. This is the man we needed at Anfield as we are competing againt the likes of Manure and Chelsea with bigger budgets than ourselves.

TBH, although Mourinho is doing a great job at Chlesea I don't think he would have done any better here than Rafa has with all the injuries and little bits of luck that haven't gone our way (thanks Mike Riley!)

Rafa conducts himself with dignity and I see the way forward being with him. He is a great manger and hopefully will bring back the glory to Liverpool that we have been starved of.

I didn't think about it untill Houllier had gone. Then i heard Benitez's name banged about and that was that.

I wanted him or Mourinho, preferably Benitez.

Mourinho imo would have done better than Benitez as i feel Mourinho can work with what he has better than anyone as apose to having to do things his own way. However i think once Rafa gets it his way, it will be a very strong side that we have.

Well I prayed for Martin Oneill. I just didnt wanna hear anyone of anyone else,nobody else could lift us, and was even prepared to play attractive football the celtic way :glare:

But now im glad we didnt go for him, Benetiz is doing a helluva good job and Long may he continue.

I think Mourinho, O'Neill and Curbishley were all better options than Benitez.

do you think o'neill and curbishley would have been able to attract alonso and morientes? two of our best signings for a long long time.

i wanted benitez. he had that manenr about him.
dont get me wrong, i woulda been happywith mourinho but didnt want o'neil or curbs
im still happy with who we got, and am still optimistic
