I just downloaded the replays of the goals and when i actually saw Mellors goal, Kewell was on the grond face first because i think it was vieira who he collided with pretending to be injured before the ball actually fell to Mellor and struck it home. Kewell got up as soon as he heard anfield roar.

He must have fu*king thinking in his head how the f*ck did the lad score!  :upside: he must have been confused

it was kewell bravely winning the ball and getting decked by viera that led to the goal. thats why he was face down on the ground.

i've seen both goals a number of times now and kewell played his part in both.

I think it was a joint effort from cambell and toure that decked kewell and it was a brave header all in all.

Hi Peewe, you say that like he meant to give it away !  ???

Ok we all know he's not playing anywhere near his level at the moment but why do LFC fans have to have a Villian and a hero after every game  ???

I think Harry needs a goal or two to boost his confidence. It's not just a matter about fitness it is also a matter about confidence.

dalglish it is just the way you read it, of course he doesnt deliberatly give the ball away, howver he spent all game giving the ball away. he needs to sort himself out sharpish.

anyway rumour  is he will be joining oleary again in january

he also nearly scored with a header again - and had a few other decent moments.

kewell's problem is that he came in such a blaze of glory for big money that the demands are higher for him than a lot of other players. he's also had periods for us as an outstanding player.

if we want him to get back to his best then the way to do it is for us to get behind him. i know i've slagged him off myself but i've decided to support the guy and give him cudos for the good work he does do.

not really, he only cost £3m, which seemed a bargain at the time but he hasn't shown his potential at LFc for a long time now.

If he had cost 10m like Diouf I think you would find that the criticism would be a lot stronger.

LFC#1, Kewell did not cost £3m, he cost £5m but Leeds just received the £3m. Liverpool paid £5m and it deoesn't matter how the payment was distributed amongst his former club, his agent and himself but the fact is that he cost £5m and due to that cut price, he was able to negotiate a very high wage. Factor in his wages over the time he has been with us and when you look at the big picture and compare the returns he gave us and what outlays Liverpool have to fork out, he has been a disappointment.

Only recently is he starting to try with more effort and passion. Before this, he had always looked uninterested.

I agree with peewee that Kewell loses possession way too easily, sometimes too cheaply. I was just really getting annoyed with him when he made that headed pass to Gerrard who passed to Alonso for the first goal. His workrate and effort has improved of late but he needs to work on his passes and movement. Even a much more limited player like Finnan or Riise did not give away the ball so often and so cheaply.

The thing is that Kewell gets forced to play better by people telling him to rather then him wanting him to.
