Bring Alonso in the summer. He’s worked with Wirtz before and know how to get the best out of him.

We’d be foolish to let him go somewhere else.

The fans are going to turn nasty if they keep sticking with Slot. Everyone can see we're going backwards at a alarming rate. We 100% have the players here, but Slot has no idea how to get the best out of any of them. Its not by fluke that these lads go out on international duty and have worldies.

I would have honestly sacked him in November, but to keep him until now is insulting to every fan who pays money to watch this team.

Well, all I've been reading these past few days is that we're most likely sticking with Slot no matter where we finish, Real Madrid fancy Klopp, we might be selling Alisson, and our main forward Ekitike will miss most (or all) of next season. All of this comes from decent sources too like Ornstein and Romano.

To be honest next season sounds like sh1t and the current one isn't even over yet!

We can forget about Hugo for at least 2 years with a injury like that i'm afraid. It's the same injury that turned a 27 year old John Barnes into a 36 year old player in the blink of an eye.
I'm hoping all this talk about Slot's services being retained next season is a ploy by the club to make sure he's still motivated enough to get us top 5.
I'll be astonished if any manager survives 18 losses in a season, that 18 could very well be 19 come Sunday evening especially if Everton drag us into the trenches which lets face it if we were all in Moyes shoes that's what we'd be doing, everyone in football knows our players can't fight their way out of a wet paper bag. It's going to be hostile there as well, first derby game at their new stadium and all that. I reckon we'll field a weakened side, i think he'll be concerned about Everton booting fv.ck out of us and i think he will try to protect one or two, i dont think Isak will feature at all especially after just returning from long term injury and given what happened to Hugo midweek,i dont think the club fancy the idea of losing both big name strikers to long term injuries in the same week. i think the likes of Jones, Gakpo and Robbo  will start.

We definitely are in a bad phase. We've got a disjointed side, our new recruits are spending more time in the injury room. We've got a manager that is out of his depth for this task.

A lot needs to be fixed this summer if we want to get back into contention. This side is in need of some surgery from players to management. I personally feel we need a fresh approach, new management bringing in his own staff.

As for UCL qualification, I've said it before will get it, not by consistent form, we just need to prod along as we have been all season. 4 points adrift from Chelsea who lost today. Merseyside derby is important to locals but tbh Slot will probably think a draw is enough. I feel we may lose, they've got the momentum.

Just something I recalled but anyone remember how sh1t the players looked under Rogers. When Klopp came in he fined tuned and turned them up a notch.

A lot of players looked worse than they actually were. After Suarez left, there was no clear identity, constant formation changes, and defensive instability. Players like Lovren, Moreno, Skrtel, Henderson, Lallana, Can — even Firmino early on — all looked inconsistent or ineffective.

When Klopp came in, the same core group improved massively because he gave them: A clear system (gegenpressing), Defined roles,Higher intensity and confidence.
It wasn’t just about player quality — the system and coaching made the difference.

We know Slot is no Klopp but just a reminder how coaching and systems makes a difference.

You saw a early glimpse of this with Spurs yesterday. They all looked refreshed and up for the fight.. they were pressing in numbers and all fighting for the ball. Unfortunately for them they got tired right at the end and ended up conceding in injury time. But another couple of weeks with De Zerbi and his coaching staff, they'll be back upto fitness. I think thats been our main concern this season, under coached and the team are unfit. We hardly press, especially in the first half.. so how are the team all knackered 60 minutes onwards?

We definitely need a shake up!! I heard Slot wanted Heitinga back, but the board blocked that move.

They showed Rodgers loads of support and where fully behind him at this point in his last season. Come October they had no choice but to remove him. It would be really foolish if that support lead to a new deal though.

I just don’t see our owners having knee jerk reactions, they seem to have a longer and more stable view on things. I think it is easier for them to support Slot and help him for another season than scrap the whole plan and start from scratch. We don’t have owners like Chelsea or Forrest.

I think he’s gone. The fact his contract hasn’t been renewed and he’s talking about ‘selling before buying’ would suggest the material support from the board has dried up.

The board would be foolish to keep him on. And with 12 months left to run on his contract, Slot may understandably be looking for other jobs.

Some talented managers will be available this summer. I’m hoping we move on from this mess.

Would it really be a knee jerk reaction though? Honestly, looking at the results it doesn't seem like Slot has been so awful, we're in a CL spot despite so many injuries and he won the league last season. Those are the things the owners are looking at and might be saying "well that's not sack worthy". However it's not just the results, context also matters. We've been bad under Klopp too but we've never looked like a team without identity, without a recognizable system and without energy like we do now. And IMO we were never so consistently bad under Klopp, while this season there is no difference between our first game and our latest game, no signs of improvement whatsoever.

For what it's worth, I don't think the owners will fire Slot, every reputable source says they won't and they stuck with Brendan who was definitely worse than Slot. But sticking with him will be a mistake. It turned out well last time when we found Klopp in the middle of the season but we got lucky then and I doubt we'll get lucky again.

I also don't think Slot is the only one at fault. Top players underperformed this season plus Richard Hughes is also at fault for spending too much on players that aren't good enough. In fact, I don't think Slot is a bad manager at all, but you need to be more than just good to manage at the highest level. You need to be exceptional and he isn't.

You said in a different thread that you see the negatives but that you also see the positives. I'm genuinely curious what positives have you seen this season?

Good post Dam,

I think his definitely going be here next season. Might aswel get used to the idea instead of thinking we will be under someone else. My worry is like everyone else, under Slot we ain't got a way of playing. No philosophy, tenacity etc. Easily could become another Rogers situation.

'May as well get used to the idea'... as in, accept mediocrity? No thanks, not at this club. losing 18 games in a season is not something to just 'get used to', let alone the manner in which we've lost them.
Nothing personal against Slot except for the fact he's sinking my club.

I'm on the same boat mate but I just can't see them sacking him if he makes UCL. I don't think it is going to happen.

Their view isnt that long or stable Kazza considering hes out of contract in a year and they have yet to extend it. We dont do a managers long term plan over the clubs as thats the priority regardless of who the head coach is. They will never start from scratch again unless its a business move thats profitable.

Do you really want him to stay ? If so for what. The football is horrible Mate. Grand we dont want to be emulating Chelsea or forest in sacking on a whim but is that enough to justify him staying in a job hes clearly struggling with. We are going to have a transition of players coming and going over the summer which indicates more chopping and changing. Personally I dont feel hes the man to do that at all and we would be better off replacing him in the summer. Let someone come in with a fresh perspective on the pitch and in the dressing room.
