All of this comes from decent sources too like Ornstein and Romano.
To be honest next season sounds like sh1t and the current one isn't even over yet!
You saw a early glimpse of this with Spurs yesterday. They all looked refreshed and up for the fight.. they were pressing in numbers and all fighting for the ball. Unfortunately for them they got tired right at the end and ended up conceding in injury time. But another couple of weeks with De Zerbi and his coaching staff, they'll be back upto fitness. I think thats been our main concern this season, under coached and the team are unfit. We hardly press, especially in the first half.. so how are the team all knackered 60 minutes onwards?redshade » Sat Apr 18, 2026 11:55 pm wrote:We definitely are in a bad phase. We've got a disjointed side, our new recruits are spending more time in the injury room. We've got a manager that is out of his depth for this task.
A lot needs to be fixed this summer if we want to get back into contention. This side is in need of some surgery from players to management. I personally feel we need a fresh approach, new management bringing in his own staff.
As for UCL qualification, I've said it before will get it, not by consistent form, we just need to prod along as we have been all season. 4 points adrift from Chelsea who lost today. Merseyside derby is important to locals but tbh Slot will probably think a draw is enough. I feel we may lose, they've got the momentum.
Just something I recalled but anyone remember how sh1t the players looked under Rogers. When Klopp came in he fined tuned and turned them up a notch.
A lot of players looked worse than they actually were. After Suarez left, there was no clear identity, constant formation changes, and defensive instability. Players like Lovren, Moreno, Skrtel, Henderson, Lallana, Can — even Firmino early on — all looked inconsistent or ineffective.
When Klopp came in, the same core group improved massively because he gave them: A clear system (gegenpressing), Defined roles,Higher intensity and confidence.
It wasn’t just about player quality — the system and coaching made the difference.
We know Slot is no Klopp but just a reminder how coaching and systems makes a difference.

Would it really be a knee jerk reaction though? Honestly, looking at the results it doesn't seem like Slot has been so awful, we're in a CL spot despite so many injuries and he won the league last season. Those are the things the owners are looking at and might be saying "well that's not sack worthy". However it's not just the results, context also matters. We've been bad under Klopp too but we've never looked like a team without identity, without a recognizable system and without energy like we do now. And IMO we were never so consistently bad under Klopp, while this season there is no difference between our first game and our latest game, no signs of improvement whatsoever.
For what it's worth, I don't think the owners will fire Slot, every reputable source says they won't and they stuck with Brendan who was definitely worse than Slot. But sticking with him will be a mistake. It turned out well last time when we found Klopp in the middle of the season but we got lucky then and I doubt we'll get lucky again.
I also don't think Slot is the only one at fault. Top players underperformed this season plus Richard Hughes is also at fault for spending too much on players that aren't good enough. In fact, I don't think Slot is a bad manager at all, but you need to be more than just good to manage at the highest level. You need to be exceptional and he isn't.
You said in a different thread that you see the negatives but that you also see the positives. I'm genuinely curious what positives have you seen this season?
