CL draw

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby Doeboy » Fri Aug 31, 2018 11:23 am

With our home games, absolute worst case scenario I can see is 2 wins and a draw. Napoli are a good team but they are simply not as good as us and won't keep us out when he play at their place especially when we put the foot on the gas and we'll beat them. PSG away will be the decisive game for us, I'd take a draw there but don't be surprised if we beat them. Good to see Red Star back in the CL but it will be a case of pushing up that 'Goals For' column as much as possible when we play them

What the CL and League Cup draws have done though is exacerbate an already tough fixture list for September and October.

Spurs (a)   PL.               15th September
PSG (h)     CL                18th September
Southampton (h)  PL      22nd September
Chelsea (h)     LC           25th September
Chelsea (a)     PL           29th September
Napoli  (a)      CL           3rd October
Man City (h)    PL           7th October

That's 7 tough games in less than a month, 3 weeks in fact.

That's why Klopp has got Sturridge, Shaqiri, Lallana, Hendo, Matip and soon Fabinho at his disposal. To rotate with.

We should be OK I think.

Could be better, could be worse. I'm confident we'll go through to the knock-out stages

I also want us to go the distance in the league cup.

Our secondary side should be better than Chelsea. The lads on the bench will get plenty of game time soon.

For those that can watch it, the round of 16 draw is in about 50 minutes.

Wouldn't mind getting Porto again :D

Not the worst draw. They're not in great form (at least in the Bundesliga), they're not even close to what they were a few years ago. Would have preferred Porto obviously but at least we didn't get Barcelona or Juventus.

For me, they were my third most favorable team I wanted us to get, first being Porto and second Real Madrid.

3 out of 4 English clubs drew German opposition and I expect Bayer would have preferred to face another English club at the moment

Bayern are struggling a little but a lot can change in 2 months. Their squad is still jam packed with quality players.
