Crystal Palace vs Liverpool, 20:00 on Monday 20th Aug

Liverpool Football Club - Games

Great result against our bogey team.

Alisson and VVD make all the difference at the back and our defense looks a world away from 12 months ago. Some exciting times ahead  :buttrock

Good win. Make no mistake, Palace away is one of the most difficult fixtures for this season, for any club.

Full praise goes to, obviously, the defence. I'm glad that our front having an off day doesn't mean a definitive drop of points anymore. A good defence wins you the league and we finally have one. The best CB in the world and the joint best LB in the league aside, I thought Gomez was fantastic today, kept Zaha quiet the entire match. Allison is brining exactly what we've been lacking. Especially loved his passing today.

All in all, good match, very solid defending, and a well deserved win (dodgy pen or not). Long may it continue.

We all said it was going to be a tough night and it was, they had a lot of pace in their side which negated a lot of our attacks. To come away with 3 points from a tough place like that though when we were clearly not firing on all cylinders bodes well for the rest of the season.

Thought Jurgen should have brought Sturridge on a lot earlier, Firmino was clearly knackered during the second half, I thought Milner was struggling a bit as well, they had a lot of pace in their side which is not ideal when you are approaching your mid 30's.

Lazy uninspired and lucky it was 1-0 after 70 min.
So many players were really poor and only a few got a passing grade.

Not good enough and will not be enough in the long run.

I'd be tempted to rest him against Brighton at Anfield. Play Sturridge or push Salah up front and use Shaqiri.

I'm not convinced either Firmino or Salah are 100% yet and a rest would do both wonders.

To think that only a few years ago we threw away a three goal lead there in the last, what, ten minutes? It was squeaky bum time at times, half expecting history to repeat itself...
And most amazing of all.... That team is managed by possibly the worst coach we had in the past 40 years!

I thought Shaqiri and Sturridge could have really been useful tonight, ie: when teams are hard to break down like tonight. Shame, but also I thought Klopp wanted to stick to his strongest line up to try and Wear Palace down, catch them on the counter etc and eventually it paid off.

Well... Klopp himself said he wasnt pleased with the attacking performance which is fair. The forwards wated some chances especially Mane. The full backs often had acres of space but their final ball was tentative. Its a great result but our attacking performance wasn't too good!
