It never ceases to amaze me how this club is happy to throw tens if not hundreds of millions down the drain on AM's and CF's but neglects the one area of the team that has been crying out for some genuine quality for years.
I think most of us were expecting a midfield clear out this summer but alas it looks like it's going to be another mid table finish again.
If you build your team around mid table players like Henderson, Allen and Milner don't be surprised when you finish there.

It's the 7th of July! We, as do many other clubs, scout players for 6 months in advance. They don't all need the trigger pulling by July 7th!
A new goalie was most peoples idea of priority replacement this summer...   SIGNED.

Lets just give it another couple of weeks and see what happens. No point panic buying a CM just because we have to!

I'd love the CM to be a power house, big name signing that will come here to captain the team though. I think it's the right time to do it!

I think this is very unlikely.  Klopp does not sign big names, he makes them..

Calm down ladies, the transfer window has only been open 7 days and the Euros havent finished yet.

Quite happy picking up unknown/hidden gems that are maybe off the radar of other clubs....as long as it's Klopp picking them and so a rhyme and reason why we are signing them rather than the scattergun approach of the transfer committee

Stop posting sensible things. Can't you see some posters need some excitement in their summer  :D

I haven't seen anybody at the Euros that I'd want to sign, no one seems to have stood out.

Agreed?  At least we'll save a few bob.

One of our top targets who we have already bid 30 mil euros for is a CM, Mahmoud Dahoud. The assumption that there is a linear approach to transfers if incorrect. They are generally worked on in parallel but some are more difficult than others.

Dahoud sounds like a top priority for Klopp so I doubt it's over yet and it wouldn't surprise me if we get him in August.

How good is he though? Our midfield needs a serious upgrade, is he the answer? I'm only asking because I genuinely don't know, i hadn't heard of the lad until we were linked with him.

The very fact he is off the radar can be a good thing.

Is it wise to spend 100M on Pogba or to get the next best thing for much less?
(The idiots are now throwing the kitchen sink at the pursuit of success, which is what Maureen is all about. But it could ruin the club and they'll be no empathy shown around these parts if it does!)
---
Lay a foundation and build up from there.
This is why we brought in Klopp and this is why the owners want to sign him up for the long-term.
If Klopp gets what HE WANTS in the transfer windows, then that should be good enough for us as he has proven he can build a team...

No idea how good he is. If we're prepared to pay a sizable sum for him it's because Klopp rates him. I didn't know much about some of the players Rafa bought in but some of them turned out to be world class so I'm happy with the current approach as I more faith in Klopp getting right than Rodgers, Hodgson or Kenny. The reality is that the Gundogans and Pogbas of this world can go wherever they want so unless we can offer regular Champions League football or are willing to blow the competition out of the water in term of wages we haven't got a chance of signing them. We offered Alexi Sanchez more money than Arsenal but he still chose them.

The problem is that the media have fabricated links to so many Dortmund players (guys that Klopp turned into top players) and all the top players in the Bundesliga, that people now have unrealistic expectations. Off the top of my head the only player I can think of that we have missed out on this summer is Ousmane Dembele who chose Dortmund over us. Klopp is the one choosing the targets and he is the one phoning the players up trying to convince them to come so if we feck up in the transfer market this summer he will get the bulk of the blame rather than the TC or FSG.

It's clear we have to accept a touch of realism. We can't compete with the likes of Utd for players as things stand today. They are trying to get Pogba over the line while we are trying to sort out a deal for Dahoud. That snapshot says it all. As long as Klopp is picking our targets, I'm happy and pretty confident he will build a TEAM that can compete with the likes of Utd even if they have players like Ibrahimovic and Pogba if he goes there

Pogba would be a game changer for them, I used to think he was hyped to f**k but having seen quite a bit of him in the Euro's he is a quality player.

£100 million though....

Still, if he does go there, I'll take some solace from the fact that Whiskey Nose released on a free a few years back
