If the club wont cough up the extra for this lad to join now then I doubt we will see another striker in January.

Wont be holding my breath on Borini or Balotelli paving way for a new addition either.

They will stick with Sterling and hope Sturridge stays fit.

Looks like the move is in jeopardy now, seems he has picked up an injury


Divock Origi underwent an MRI scan at Lille today for a groin injury.

The 19-year-old striker who joined Liverpool last summer but was loaned back to his former French club was spotted holding his groin at the end of Lille’s 2-0 French Cup defeat in Corsica against Bastia on Saturday evening.

Origi is now a doubt for Lille’s home league game with Evian on Wednesday evening.

However the injury is not believed to be a serious and should not be a factor in scuppering the Belgian international’s chances of an early Anfield arrival as the Reds look to engineer a move for him before this month’s transfer window slams shut.

Any news on Origi?

Yep makes perfect sense ,We are getting Sturridge back (which will pull his groin in a week) ,we have 2 excellent strikers from the Koza Nostra (which would miss the Chinese wall if they were in China) and Ricky (god bless him but not in our current system) - Why on earth should we bring another striker??

Brendan Rodgers has provided updates on the short-term plans for on-loan Liverpool striker Divock Origi, the returning Daniel Sturridge and the currently sidelined Jon Flanagan.

The former agreed a deal to join the Reds last summer but, as part of the agreement with Lille, the Belgium international was to remain with the Ligue 1 outfit for the 2014-15 season.

Speaking today, Rodgers explained that the plan for Origi is unlikely to change or involve an early arrival at Anfield, but reiterated his excitement at the prospect of working with the 19-year-old.

"That was the original deal," he told talkSPORT. "There were a few discussions in January between the clubs, but it was merely to see where it was at in terms of Divock. But the likelihood is that he will stay at Lille.

"He is a really exciting young talent - you saw him at the World Cup. He has got everything suited for the Premier League; he is fast, got great feet, is tactically very good and works very hard.

"He can play through the middle or from the side. His stature and everything is set up for him to come to the Premier League.

"And he's a really good kid as well, very humble and wants to work well. His father was a very good player as well, a national team player.

"He's really looking forward to coming here, but he just needs to finish off the season there. We'll get him in the summer and he's another exciting young player."

On the transfer window in general, Rodgers added: "I think it will be quiet. I said earlier on in the window that we wouldn't be doing much over the course of January."

very disappointing... this is the first time since we had Milan Baros and Djibril Cisse and Neil Mellor, i think it was in 2005, that I feel our strikers are so inadequate...

I think it's a good and a logical move. Sturridge is going to come back soon, Ibe was brought back from his loan, and even Borini and Lambert started scoring goals. Origi's no Gabriel Batistuta either. He's just a young lad and he doesn't have the ability to turn our season around. Bringing him back would have done more harm than good IMO.

Once Sturridge comes back all this talk of needing a striker will be put on the back burner

At a guess Origi was on then Borini and Lambert score and FSG pull the plug.

Had they not scored at Villa and we draw 0-0, Origi comes in next week.

These are the things Rodgers has to deal with and we must train out thought to how FSG think
not the manager.

Sturridge is the only striker who is dependable for scoring goals. But he is also not dependable in terms of fitness. At least if we had Origi, there would be more options...

The 19-year-old World Cup star was signed by the Reds last summer but, as part of the deal, was loaned back to Lille for the 2014-15 season.

Origi hadn't found the net since October 2 for his club side - a penalty in the Europa League draw at Wolfsburg - and since September 27 in the league, a total of 1277 league minutes without a goal.

His last goal in all football came for Belgium, on October 10, in a 6-0 win over minnows Andorra.

The £10m man latched on to a loose, bouncing ball in the box and fired it into the roof of the net, for his first goal in 18 league games.

The 19-year-old has had a turbulent season in France and was booed by his own supporters after missing a penalty earlier in the campaign.

The Belgian, who was subject to interest from Liverpool to bring him to Anfield in January, has been accused of not trying hard enough since his move to Anfield was confirmed last summer.

He's now scored four league goals for the Ligue 1 side, as well as that one Europa League strike in Germany.

Having been tracked by the club for several years, he'll begin his Anfield career this summer.

I think he'll be a good player for us, I don't think he'll be a prolific goal scorer but he'll be an excellent link man and focal point for our attack.
