I really hope that we manage to bring sanchez in to replace suarez , shaqiri seem very one dimensional and over hyped .
We need top quality players to continue our momentum on the top 3 and champs league football .
So far this club doesn't seem as an attractive club to top class players out there . For a few years we are well of pace , time to catch up .

if the reported £63M fee is correct, then I'll say is a serious fucking joke. Ayre really does know how to drive a shitty hard bargain, both buying and selling!

Reports say they will match the release clause price. How much the release clause is, is anyones guess...

Neymar had a vertebrae injury and will be out quite some time... Maybe we should be raising Suarez fee now...

Probably means Sanchez is going nowhere this window

Apparently even though it's sounds nasty he'll only be out 5 weeks, he'll be fit for the start of the season.
Spanish TV and the 2 Pravda-esque newspapers that serve as the mouthpieces for Real and Barca (Marca & Sport) are all saying the fee for Luis is in Euro's whilst the British press (including the Echo) seem to think it's in pounds sterling.
There are one or two reports than Sanchez may move to United  :( , hope that doesn't happen, I'd rather he went to Arsenal than there and that's saying something.

Though I always think Ayre is an idiot, I don't think he's that stupid to sell LS for less than what is in the release clause. If LS goes for 63M, then definitely his release clause is 63M.

With the sale of our star man, BR can now rebuild but there are justified fears that we become another Spurs without Bale. AVB bought 7 good players who couldn't blend in with each other to play as a strong team. Thus, it depends whether Brendan can make the right signings and create a strong team to build on from the 2nd place finish. Look at A.Madrid who won the La Liga, they don't have that many star names, but they played as a great team and won the title under the noses of Barca and RM. So please Mr.Rodgers, no more Borinis, Albertos, Aspases, Allens signings, otherwise, be prepared for 7th place finish.

In fairness I don't believe AVB had anything much to do with the spending of the Bale money and that's probably the the main problem Spurs had last year

I'd tend to believe the Echo's version of events more than Marca's or Sport's but as someone has already said because of the release clause in Luis contract our hands are basically tied on this, we haven't got much room to manoeuvre at all. If the final sum does turn out to be £63m then that will be the fee agreed upon in his contract.
I think the only thing slowing this up now is the structure of the payments and maybe an 11th hour, last gasp, effort by us to sign Sanchez.

From EPSN site which Im hoping is the correct version

Barcelona have the framework of a deal in place to buy Luis Suarez -- but Liverpool are waiting to see if Alexis Sanchez will move to Anfield before signing off the sale.

Sources have told ESPN FC that the La Liga giants are prepared to meet the release clause in Suarez's contract, which is reported to be between 70 million and 80 million pounds.

Liverpool are interested in signing Sanchez in part-exchange, a deal that Barca are prepared to sanction. But even if the Chile international decides to stay at the Nou Camp or move elsewhere, Liverpool are prepared to sell Suarez

FK the part exchange.

Get the full whack in cash

And spend it on a quality player who actually want's to play for us. Preferably someone from Europe and not another South American mercenary who views us a just another stepping stone in his career.

i think this effort to try and get sanchez is just too little too late, we should have done the groundwork earlier so at least we would know where we stand.
losing suarez is a massive blow and im just peeved that nothing seems to be happening in securing a top replacement. if they knew he was off before the W.C then we appear to be dragging our heels again.
we need to be looking at players like reus, morata or go back to miktaryan with a better offer, these are the types we should be looking to go for. not players like lallana and lambert.
you cant just expect players to be lining up because of who we are, we need to get out and sell the club to them  :nod

Think as St Mike alluded to in an earlier post, maybe we should forget about attempting to "replace" Luis, lets face it, there's nobody we could sign (however good they are) who could realistically get the amount of goals that Luis got for us.

Perhaps the key to our future progress is for us to concentrate more on a dominant midfield and a solid defence.

As great as it is to watch some swashbuckling footy, we don't have to win every game with a hat full of goals, we just have to win !.

i accept we will never replace luis like for like but we can get the next top player if we stop gambling and go for the proven ones. i dont believe that we can take a bunch of players from mid table sides and morph them into a winning machine. we dont even have a world class player anymore
i agree also on the mid and defence but unfortunately i believe its brendan that needs convincing.
he lives for the whole swashbuckling thing  :D
