He's 28, so at his peak too. He'll be on good wages (a City fan told me £90k a week), but if we want to move forward we need this sort of quality.
The Can rumours seem to be the main story at the moment and I've never seen him play, but his versatility looks appealing, and he could cover a range of positions. At the reported £10m this seems sensible. He's very young too, so can be improved.
Many don't fancy Caulker, but for me at 22, and for the reported £6m he seems low risk. He has over 100 EPL appearances and a load of time to improve.
Those three aren't the sexiest of signings, but in terms of giving us a bit more steel to close games out, I think they would help.
The likes of Can, Milner and Caulker would be solid signings mate but are they going to be good enough to help us bridge that gap between second and first?
As someone mentioned the other day the last two times that we have finished runners up we didn't capitalise on our momentum, Infact our signings took us backwards (Diouf, Diao, Cheyrou, Aquilani etc).
We need to push the boat out this summer and that means aiming high.
Good solid signings is just what we need for me. Our first 11 this season has just almost won the league playing the best football I have seen.
We clearly need a right back to come straight into the first team and you could argue about a couple of other players needing to be replaced but the reason for me we finished just short was due to the players coming in when we did lose a player to injury or suspension.
If you have a Milner coming in for Henderson for the 3 match ban I think we look in a far better position to keep the momentum going.
Dont get me wrong I'd love a couple of real marquee signings but it wouldnt concern me if we brought in Bony, Lallana, Caulker and this kid Can.
