Newcastle boss Alan Pardew claims he will not give up on signing Queens Park Rangers striker Loic Remy.

The Frenchman spent the whole of last season on loan at St James' Park, finishing as the Magpies top scorer with 14.

Newcastle will face competition for his signature, with Premier League pair Arsenal and Liverpool also keen on signing the 27-year-old.

But Pardew admits they will not let him leave without a fight - admitting the deal would be a boost for the whole club.

The Magpies boss said: "I think we've got to give the fans and club a lift in the summer by recruiting well, and hopefully we can do that.

He'd be a good back up option but would a 27 year old who could obviously get 1st team football elsewhere be prepared to waste the best years of his career sitting on the bench here? Better off with an up and coming striker or one at the end of their career (like Fowler was) as a back up option IMO.

No. Regardless of how he left, he's just flat out shitty now. He wouldn't fit our system I don't think. He has to be the focal point to be successful, and clearly he wouldn't be here, not to mention he'd be a backup, or moved out of position.

Adam Lallana set to join Liverpool next week. 20m plus part of the fee will go to Bournemouth.

The Echo is saying he is our main buy for the summer, I hope that doesn't mean that we will spend £20m on Lallana and then go back to our usual policy of buying a handful of £7m-£8m bench warmers.
Lallana needs to be the first of at least 3 or 4 first teamers, you can bet your bottom dollar that the clubs around us will bringing in more than one potential first team player, United alone will probably be bringing in about 6 (starting with Luke Shaw).

It's hard to say with Suarez, I can't see us even considering anything less than £80m.

Real Madrid are a big attraction, but the club don't want or need to sell him so that's in our favour.

think he is a good player but not worth 20mil and id be a little underwhelmed if he is our main signing. he is an improvement on allen and lucas though.

I don't think that will be an option this summer mate, I suspect that new contract he signed will have a cast iron buy out clause in it.

Lallana hasn't signed yet and the Cole link is just a rumour.

Good to read Brendan saying he'd rather just sign 2 quality players than 5 or 6 with potential. He says he wants this summer to be all about strengthening the starting XI.
